It's worth letting people know that the shingles vax can be a little rough, so they can plan a time to get it when they'll be able to take it easy for a day.

But seriously, my reaction was a day of feeling a little run down. And shingles is AWFUL.

Had a dream last night that was the usual mess, but at the end, I was watching a giant polar bear walk toward me, carrying a volcano like a snailshell on its back.

“Welp,” I said to the person next to me, “that’s either a god or a Pokemon.”

The headline is disingenuous. Full quote is attached.

“We want to” is NOT the same as “will.”

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

Trade Rating: OUT OF ALCATRAZ is a prison escape thriller with something powerful to say

Out of Alcatraz a stellar read, a fun prison escape thriller that turns out to have a lot more on its mind that you may expect.

This is a gift. Thank you to @siembranc.bsky.social for sharing this new toolkit with what they did when Border Patrol showed up in NC: docs.google.com/document/d/1... - share far and wide especially with our comrades in MN and LA (New Orleans esp).
Toolkit: how we dealt with Border Patrol
In November 2025, Border Patrol announced it would be coming to Charlotte, North Carolina. We only had a few days’ notice. Just like in Chicago and Los Angeles, they weren’t coming to “keep the peace....

An experienced organizer I really respect once reminded folks "you can't always win, but you can always, always inflict a cost. Those add up."
You cannot match the size and resources of these organizations that are abandoning trans youth and sacrificing trans lives, but you have one advantage they do not: an ability to maintain a relentless focus upon them.

Make it your work, every week, to think about how you can punish them.

This is why you should act like everything a potential leader says is sincere. If they sincerely believe war crimes are good, that's disqualifying.

All means-testing is regressive.
Oh my god. What if we help some people.

What if we didn’t think there was a limit on the care we could provide if we wanted to give it to everyone.

What if?

If not here then where. If not now then when. If not us then who?
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

I wrote about a novel approach to tackling misinformation currently being discussed in Wales--and which some say Canada should try, too. What if we made a rule so politicians couldn't lie? www.thestar.com/politics/fed...
Is it time to make it illegal for politicians to lie to us?
That’s the question currently on the table in Wales, which has just released a draft of the “globally pioneering” sanctions for politicians.
