An existentially ambiguous network of confabulations and trivia, knotted together with code-switching wordplay.

Will probably not follow you back.
One of those sneaky little errors spellcheck will never catch.
A good grammar checker might, but I don't know coz I don't use 'em. They don't like my Oxford commas.

Yes! It's vibes and headlines! By which metrics it's anyone's game because Luxon has rancid vibes (but Labour gets terrible headlines)

The user who posted it is a pretty well-known (on here, and offline too) NZ political commentator. Their username also has NZ in it.
But really if they'd added the hashtag #nzpol that would have made it explicit.
Sometimes people just prefer to vaguepost I guess

Assuming this lot'll get better over time is horrifically naïve. They're a feed-the-goose-as-little-as-possible capitalist outfit. The only thing they'll get better at is judging when to bail.

Labour Party in Aotearoa New Zealand just announced their policies for the general election next year.
"Underwhelming" is the consensus.

They seem to figure that overpromising & underdelivering got 'em turfed last time, so decided the solution would be underpromising… which won't get them elected in the first place. Well done.

They tried and they failed: the lesson they took from that is "never try"

Labour members, roll 'em all. This lot are unfit for purpose.

While that'd be briefly satisfying as heck, I don't see it being great voteswise.
Just announce way better policy, get their faces out there, and rub the coalition's noses in every sneaky doodoo they produce (which is a solid 98% of everything they do, I judge)

Yep, unfortunately situational depression/anxiety can sometimes only be alleviated once the situation is removed :(

Grep/sed/awk might hose your entire code base with a bad command but at least it won’t fucking try to push to prod after it’s done it

Hot, sunny, breezy & beautiful.
We've had thunderstorms the last couple of days so this is nice.

I visited a grocery distribution centre where all the forklifts were battery-powered. That's how it worked there: battery runs down, head to the pit & swap it out. Seemed very civilised.

It mirrors exactly the outsize coverage Reform was getting in the UK that directly led to their current status.
It's absolutely having a deleterious effect on democracy and yet needs real care applied to any regulatory constraints because unintended side-effects could be awful

Yeah like what is he gonna do- send US troops there to enforce it?
I feel like that would play out poorly in at least 2 of the 3 countries, on top of which a large chunk of the rest of the world would be even more aghast.

Probably a little bit of too expensive, and a little bit of not all that nutritious, with maybe a dash of give it to the kids once and that's all they'll ever accept…

(The immunity to local consumer pressure also means that the natural "market" solution - we reduce consumption - simply has no impact. Hence the need for regulatory solutions)

I say if being told the truth is going to make these people mad, let them be mad, but do your best to have them be mad about having been misled, rather than having them be mad at you for how they felt when you told them

What government might that be, then?
The government we're talking about here is Aotearoa New Zealand.
We have somewhat different reasons for meat being expensive than e.g. the US might.
