Our government,
judiciary,medical profession and media have done one over on trans people. And on the whole, the nation is turning a blind eye. It’s a stain on this country and on the cis majority.

It’s an uneven playing field. Trans people are having their very existence debated and denied, whilst GCs beliefs are amplified and validated.

When I first stated learning about the GC movement the biggest issue for me was how Forstater’s protected belief came to trump a protected characteristic.

But they are single minded and won’t engage. Of course, again they will flip this around and say that trans people and their allies refuse to engage.

I see how hard trans people have tried, are trying to tell their stories, but being ignored or debated against takes its toll.

If they could try to understand the person as a human first, an equal - a child in the case of girl
guiding - just wanting to hang out with her friends.

It’s frankly disturbing that the exclusion of trans girls in girl guiding is framed as safeguarding the other girls in the organisation.

The fear of trans women that’s used as a reason for exclusion and discrimination comes from a false correlation of risk and a lack of effort to engage with what it is to be trans. They insist on a biological certainty that doesn’t exist, there’s so much we don’t understand about the human condition.

If GCs could move an inch and consider that even if they refuse to recognise trans women are women, at the very least it would benefit both trans women and GC women if they could come to accept that trans women are definitely not men in the sense the GCs choose to perceive them.

They have worn me down and my empathy is running low. Of course I have empathy for those who have been sexually abused and are traumatised after that experience. I was a victim of CSA myself but as we saw yesterday in the vile tweets about Jolyon, again the GCs do not extend us the same courtesy.
