I've said it before, and I'll say it again, *the only language Russia understands is force*. People who have spent the past couple of years "de-escalating" or nuclear scaremongering, you have, inadvertently or not, been encouraging Russia to keep pressing further.

I'm so tired of people going to the Baltics to write articles about the "persecuted" Russians who live there. You're not being persecuted if you refuse to learn the language of the country you live in. The language bar is so low, too. It's laziness and chauvanism.

Sidenote: was deeply unimpressed with a woman selling cornflowers — an Estonian national symbol — yesterday who introduced herself with "Здравствуйте" ("hello" in Russian). Talk about tone deaf. I pointedly replied "tere" ("hello" in Estonian), and walked away.
