Lol the Nobels can't even acknowledge women's contribution to discovery. But sure let's acknowledge The Machines.
Headline from an article in Nature this week that states "Prizes must recognize machine contributions to discovery. The future of science will be written by humans and machines together. Awards should reflect that reality."

Anti antifa=fascist. The president is holding a meeting for fascists.

Incredible.

Jack Posobiec references the earliest version of antifa -- the anti-fascists in the Weimar Republic who were opposed to the Nazi Party -- as the bad guys.

Gee, I wonder what all those troops in the street and ICE goons will be doing come election time?

What kinds of purity tests exactly? Can you clarify? Just curious not being snarky.

"AI will forever be devoid of self-creation and self-extension so long as it lacks the capacity to imagine a world different from that which we’ve codified and fed to it. AI remains a dead-metaphor remix machine, with an emphasis on dead and machine." open.substack.com/pub/buildcog...

Could Klein BE any smarmier or condescending? He’s an incurable know-it-all.

Thank you so much for this. It helped clarify my thinking a lot. Shame is necessary to social cohesion; its parameters are a collective creation. It’s willful blindness to see it as ‘outside’ of a culture somehow and always just ‘bad.’

I think one way to understand the present is that the ruling class discovered that rule by ideology was too difficult to maintain and switched to rule by agnotology, by the production of ignorance.

Matthew McConaughey says he wants a private LLM, fed only with his books, notes, journals, and aspirations, so he can ask it questions and get answers based solely on that information, without any outside influence.

So true. Kirk’s style was never civil, it functioned under that premise but ‘change my mind’ was a taunt, structurally designed to proselytize and demean- and his audiences were always younger and far more naive. He was a professional bully pure and simple.

This whole Kirk thing, the self-censorship, the crazy fawning, elevating a white supremacist, queer-bashing patriarch even by liberals, shows how totally and completely cooked the US actually is.

so ezra gets his dogshit take today and then a column about the bluesky reaction next week. i do admire the laziness. it’s something i really aspire to.
alisonhearn.bsky.social
The outsized response to Kirk’s death is a function of the outsized power of mediated attention. He didn’t ‘debate’ so much as deploy the heckler’s veto- yelling, demeaning, belittling his opponents.
He was a professional bully and he made millions doing it. That’s what passes as politics now.
alisonhearn.bsky.social
Good lord, those NYT opinion pieces about Kirk are the last of a long line of last straws. Absolutely abominable. ‘a taste for disagreement’. Go f**k yourself. A pox on all your houses.

Thank God the Supreme Court gave the president's secret police the right to profile and detain anyone based on any immutable characteristic today, knowing the president himself will never reveal himself to be writing Zodiackian poems and pervert kiddie sketches to a world-historic pedophile.
