Although the claimant has taken steps to change attributes of their sex from female, by changing their name to a name which can be identified as of either sex, and has changed their preferred pronouns, those are not in our view attributes which are for the purpose of moving from one sex to the other, they are steps in the process of moving away from the female sex to a different gender identity, ie that of non binary. The claimant is not proposing, nor do they intend to take any steps to reassign their sex from that of female to male. 105. We therefore find that the claimant does not have the protected characteristic of gender reassignment."

A couple of years ago I was in Edinburgh around midsummer and outside near midnight and was shocked to learn that it is northerly enough to not get fully dark at that point of the year.

Even in London (400 miles / ~8 hour drive south), there's no true night for a couple of months in summer.
A day/night length chart from timeanddate.com, set to the 21st June. This day has no night time and 16 hours 38 minutes of daylight with the rest moving through twilight phases. The overall chart indicates that it doesn't get darker than astronomical twilight for two months between May and July.

Nordic Fuzz Con released stats on people who have registered for 2026 and the descriptor of furry as a 'predominantly gay male, heavily trans' community has never felt more fitting than seeing almost the same proportion of people describing their gender as 'female' or 'other'.

Received my first @vhsdogs.bsky.social mailing after stumbling across them by chance a while back and it is DELIGHTFUL.

Really need to sort out actually framing and putting art up some time!

Honourable mention for comic 386, "Duty Calls", which in my younger years was on point enough that we would just say "386" as a shorthand for the activity. This one has been less enduring to my philosophy and ways of existing, though 🤣

Just realised @xkcd.com turned 20 in September. I read it religiously during my undergrad, 2006-2010, and hadn't remembered how close to the start that was! There are many excellent strips, but two in particular capture so much of my attitudes to life (150 and 1211).

What are your favourites?
XKCD 150, 'Grown ups', a linear four-panel comic illustrated primarily with simple lines in black and white. In the first, one stick figure is talking through an open door to a second stick figure, who is shown surrounded by colourful balls.
