According to Garner, we can place the blame on Renhquist.

Nooooo! Only people born after the first moon landing are GenZ.

I played those a ton, too! I solved Sorcerer after a couple weeks, but Enchanter was one I never finished until the Internet era, years later. I never thought to dispel the staircase.

Nice consequence of MSFT acquiring Activision! The ZIL for Minizork popped up in the 90s, and a few of us had the ZIL sources since about 2007. Jason Scott finally decided to post most of the sources in 2020 on github, and no one did anything. A few are still not available (Hitchhiker I think?)

From 2019!

Even with the decompiler, it didn't generate usable code so I had to fiddle with it a lot.

I've been thinking of making an Italian Zork II as a language-improving exercise! (there's already an Italian Zork I. I played it when I first started learning Italian!)

I did that many years ago! There was already a disassembler but in the early 2000s I wrote a decompiler that targeted Inform. That was before Jason Scott got a hold of the ZIL sources.

At least I can now stick an MIT license on it instead of my old note "This is copyright but I hope no one minds".

Is that mine!??

I for one like Roman Numeral jokes.

I'm seriously going to need a Dinosaur Comics from @ryannorth.ca to explain this zinger.

They're consistently funnier when a Republican is president, many people have noted.

Not that this is timely, but it's still one of my Bab Bee favorites:

I didn't realize law apprenticeships were still a thing! It feels so 19th century.

You're only 7 years older than me. I had fun at every job I held back then. But it was tough if your car broke down or you were out of work, as I was in 89 when the recession hit early in TX (because of oil). Lost my electricity, only ate because I had friends that helped, barely made rent.

White cans labeled "BEER" at H.E.B.

Yeah, people think HEB is this high-end Texas grocery store. I used to go there in the 80s just to enjoy the AC that I didn't have in my apartment and for the $1.99 six-packs of generic BEER.

Now we wait for the inevitable unsigned unexplained grant from SCOTUS staying the order, leaving everyone in the dark about the reasons why and without any guidance for the future.

Possibly amusing thing her: men not realizing that repealing the 19th does nothing by itself. You still have to convince states to follow up.

Repealing the 19th just means states can disenfranchise by sex. Congrats incels: states may then choose to block men from voting!
