I struggle not to "cutify" everything, since most of my illustration work is targeted toward a young audience. But we love a good contrast between substance and form!

When creating White Week's world, we searched for a sweet spot between "cottage-core" "this forest is very creepy" and "the forest I knew as a kid".
We are not all the way yet, parts of the creepy aspect are still in development but we had a good time on Pinterest. #indiedev #moodboard #worlddesign

Visuals are a key aspect of White Week, creating a soft and warm atmosphere (at first). There are a lot of moving parts to get the perfect ambiance and we will be showing in more details soon!
Working in 2d has its challenges but as an illustrator, I couldn't be more happy!

Text : White Week is a game created entirely with 2D illustrations. Whether it is our backgrounds objects or animation it is all hand drawn. it's a lot of fun, a lot of work and the result is we're worth it! Statement is not happy that we are making a post about the visual before again play that it's easier to show, sorry!

Text : for some it's obvious and easy. You're not going to need 50 version of a SANDWICH for the menu. But for others.. yes 8 directions, 8 frames per direction, no problem at all. Good thing the game doesn't have too many characters.

Text : it's a big learning curve for me, Sparo. I'm a press illustrator most of the time so I had to learn a lot about what it means to make game-ready assets but Steinman and I have a great dynamic going on now which we will share in the next of these devlog comics! There is really one last problem. Steinman says "Look at that! You even made the gun look cute."
