Because instead of the laws of one corporate emperor you get to obey the laws of 100 petty feudal kings (ie: Mastodon) which have just as much power to censor and control what you see.

Woke up to quite the update on this. I had been in contact with Payment Cloud about getting their service and they waited until now to hit me with the image below. Again, stringing me along instead of being upfront. They had seen my website multiple times before this.

An image taken from an e-mail from Payment Cloud to me. They list prohibited adult work, one of which just includes "Fantasy" which is as wide as cat ears and fairies. We are so cooked.

It's not HK DLC -though it started from that-, it's sold as a full game.

It's fair to expect onboarding for new players or people who haven't played HK in 7 years. The developers themselves said they wanted to onboard, they just lacked skill in balancing the game and direct testing.

Balancing games and difficulty levels is a solved problem, with discrete levels or granularity. Hollow Knight itself was a textbook example on how to cater to all skill levels with its smooth learning curve and compartmentalized challenge.

Silksong is just a massive regression.

It comes as a massive disappointment as Hollow Knight is a very tough game but with one of the smoothest difficulty curves I've ever seen. There was a point i had to quit, sure, but that wasn't after 6 fucking hours of gameplay.

And #Silksong too finishes in the pile of ultra-hard garbage that is inaccessible to low skill players like me.

I'll give it another go when a double-base damage and half-taken damage mod comes out (we're getting there). I'm getting so tired of indies being incompetent at accessibility.

This strikes me as overcompliance and censorious on Steam’s part
