I'm helping to build the best travel website @skyscanner. Writing about the web and things.
Really excited for the recent additions to browsers for devs. Using reach interactions shouldn't penalise the users due to the increase in JS bundle size.

JavaScript is going full on to conquering full stack development. No other language gets close (and probably never will) to bridging the gap between the browsers and the servers, while preserving the fun of it.

Doing interviews is awesome. You get exposed to problems that you quickly notice are just the result of maintaining a complex system with many engineers ("stakeholder alignment" is the f worst). Cool stuff is built in small crafty products that are focused on innovation 🫶

While using Tailwind I also sometimes need more complex selectors, so I fallback to CSS. SFCs (Vue, Svelte) are not great (just their template syntax), but writing CSS in the same file is awesome. Any Vite plugin to process CSS written in .tsx, at build time, as it was module.css?

Now that we use HTML forms more often in #react, #svelte and #solidjs, any good solutions for end-to-end safety, to ensure the template is matching expected values on the server, without bringing more JS to the client? Maybe through some compilation plugins?

Framer Motion as a good wrapper around every evolving View Transitions is the way we make our web apps have native feel 💪
🎉 After six incredible years at Framer, it’s time for my next step.

Today, we’re spinning Framer Motion out as its own independent open-source project, to better serve the whole community.

Introducing Motion. For React, and now, for everyone.

On the market for a new tablet, mostly for media consumption, so on the cheaper side. Didn't expect them to be so expensive. Galaxy Tab costs more than Galaxy Book, which is a fully featured Windows laptop. iPad Pro costs more than the MacBook Air. What's going on with the tablets?

Okay peeps, when you need to go somewhere far, where do you look for flights? 👀

The hardest part is to make the initial recommendations to spin. I mark lots of posts as "Show less" but I keep getting recommendations that aren't relevant at all. It also makes it difficult for me to discover and "like" things I do want to see more of. How long will it take... 🤷

we’ve had many waves of people checking in on the site and bouncing. it always feels a little sad to see folks i know bounce but i know how sticky the twitter network effects are.

“build it and they will come” is not enough, but still — we aim to make the app better for every next wave, bit by bit
