Can someone (kindly) explain to me why a team’s own draft picks are talked about as more valuable than another team’s in trade discussions (I.e., “getting own 1st back”)? Stepien Rule I’m assuming..?

Like, Finchy, what are we doing here? How do you not get through to your players to not do the same thing 7 possessions in a row that is not working (no passing, shoot terrible/contested deep 3). This is why they’re always in clutch games, no discipline.
