A simple urine test could help spot #dementia decades before symptoms appear, new research shows. The study found that protein in urine may act as an early warning sign.

At BRACE, we fund research into early diagnosis, because the sooner dementia is detected, the more chance there is to prevent it.

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a rare form of #dementia affecting 1 in 20 people with a diagnosis.

It mainly affects the frontal (front) and temporal (side) lobes of the brain. These areas are responsible for personality, behaviour and communication.

BRACE has been investing significant funding into earlier dementia diagnosis.

Record levels of dementia patients are now receiving support from the NHS.

Support is expanding nationwide - but there is still so much to do.

At BRACE, we fund research into early #dementia diagnosis, helping people access support sooner and giving new treatments more time to make a difference.

A new study from the University of Edinburgh has found that older cats with #dementia show the same toxic protein build-up seen in Alzheimer’s disease.

This makes them a natural model for the condition, offering fresh hope for breakthroughs in research that could help both humans and pets.

A new UCL study reveals it takes 3.5 years on average to get a #dementia diagnosis after symptoms appear, and even longer for early-onset cases.

This delay means missed chances for treatment.

New Alzheimer’s drugs like lecanemab and donanemab are designed to work best in the early stages.

1 in 10 people with #dementia are diagnosed with mixed dementia, but what is it and how is it diagnosed?

Mixed dementia is when someone has 2 or more types of dementia at the same time.

It can be difficult to diagnose because symptoms from multiple types of dementia can overlap.

Blood tests for Alzheimer’s are not currently available in the UK/NHS.
