I received a Thanksgiving-themed survey in my inbox this morning after seeing some discussion of "Thanksgiving outfits" on TikTok.

I submit my own belief on both: if your Thanksgiving celebration doesn't encourage enough food that pants with an elastic waistband are necessary, I don't want to go.

I suggested to my dog Molly that this might not be an equitable distribution of my 10-foot long blanket. I’m afraid you’ll have to call the ASPCA on me for such a transgression.

Molly! It was her shelter name when I adopted her and I liked it, so I stuck with it.

A friend of my dad’s from hockey is a woodworker, and y’all, just look at these rocking chairs he made for my sister and her baby! 😭 (The shower went off without a hitch and I’m now ready for a nap.)

Extreme closeup of the sticker only because I have the reddened nose and messy hair of a woman on her fourth day and counting of sinusitis, but I voted early in CT today!

Ehhhhh. His district looks like this in large part because it surrounds LA-06, which was drawn per court order to give Louisiana a second majority Black district. It does make his district unrepresentative, yes, but it's less nefarious. (cc: @kevinmkruse.bsky.social).

Turns out you can do even better. Under this map, districts 1 through 9 all voted for Biden by 9+ points and all except VA-04 voted for McAuliffe in 2021 (VA-04 was 50-49 Youngkin). I'm sure the real mapmakers could make it prettier. All the more reason to vote for Spanberger.

We had a dinosaur, unicorn, penguin, and axolotl in Middletown!

Best sign I saw today at #NoKings Middletown!

There's a lot of Noem and Lewandowski stuff to digest here, but I want to draw attention to this from Madison Sheahan, age 28, current deputy director of ICE.

Apparently it’s not enough to honor a so-called champion of free speech by going after anyone who criticizes him (including by accurately quoting his own words) and trying to get them fired, the GOP now wants to punish people for not saying anything at all. Gotcha.

Darth, I got a job offer for after law school! I also wrote a research paper on police unions and reform this past spring/summer and submitted it to a law journal and a new student research panel my law school is hosting. And as always, spoiling the little one should count as an accomplishment.

The social media-shareable haul from Hartford’s Le Creuset Factory to Table sale. (I bought a couple other items to give as Christmas gifts, not pictured here.) While I’m bummed I couldn’t get a VIP ticket for a mystery box, it was still a lot of fun and I have some good finds!

Plotting the nibling’s future while picking up textbooks.

(The smallest size is 6 months and I hope to have more money by the time that it fits the nibling, so I haven’t bought it…yet.)

I love this entire thread, and whenever state flags come up, I enjoy pointing out to people who have not yet realized it that Rhode Island’s depicts hope being crushed by a heavy object.

Also, this is my tattoo of the DC flag with text added. That flag is 10/10 in my book.

All the places with mostly red dots on this map, except probably Brookland. (Yes, the data is exactly what you think it is.)

4. I've never been able to justify the extra cost of prescription sunglasses and can't go regular-glasses-less since I hate contacts and have roughly 20/200 vision. In this fantasy scenario, it's prescription Ray-Ban time. (And if I got LASIK, regular Ray-Bans!)

2. Miss me with that "buy everything Hermes to maybe be allowed to buy a Birkin someday" nonsense, but I do have a weakness for some designer bags. I'd definitely buy a Bottega Veneta mini Jodie in white as my concert/arena bag if I were rich.

1. A top-of-the-line F1/racing sim rig. Simucube Pro setup for the wheel and pedals, a big seat, triple monitors. The kind of thing that would take up half my living room and everything I've made working this summer.

I got this email from YouGov trying to entice me to answer the question for 250 points, but it sorely lacks an "it's none of my damn business what other people spend on their weddings, why would I care?" option and therefore I won't be participating.

Felt diabolical, fucked around in Dave's Redistricting for half an hour or so and drew a 10-0 Washington map in which Kamala won each district by 5+ points, won't delete later.

And you could absolutely make this a stronger Dem gerrymander. I kept counties and cities together so I could draw faster.

This seems to come up fairly frequently in r/LawSchool. Philosophically, I think it should be fine to request an hour or two off for future job hunting when a job is by definition temporary, but I also need the children to learn the art of “I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, I’ll be in at 11!”

Tattoo number 2! Very grateful to Eminence Ink in Willimantic for this one.

Those we love don’t go away
They walk beside us every day
Unseen, unheard, but always near
Still loved, still missed, and very dear
