Western Australian mining interests more like. The Greens have a choice. Continue to lose votes by blocking flawed but better policy or become a relevant player. With the LNP terminally irrelevant, The Greens have an opportunity to be effective. I prefer the long view.

It's the bots that freak me out. Our referendum on 'Voice to Parliament' (for Aboriginal people) went from a high 60% national support rating to less than 30% in a matter of 6 months after a blitz of hate & fear spreading bots filled social media. Much of it was from foreign state actors.

'...declines to comment' is some distance from inciting violence against Jews. He also vowed to protect all Jewish people. I don't doubt that he has conflicted views over what is happening in the Middle East but unless there is evidence of him inciting violence, I'm sensing confabulation here.

I'm a political scientist and am thoroughly aware of how hybrid warfare is conducted. Iran, Russia and China are sophisticated players in utilising that method of warfare to undermine liberal democracies across the globe.

Very true. Humans of every political persuasion are increasingly becoming targets of hostile state actors. We recently sent the Iranian embassy packing from Australia for just this. I'm no fan of the Imams.

The majority of the rest of the world concurs. Bit of a breakthrough COP this year. The weight of global opinion has finally shifted. Thankfully.

...and Australia. Our dry-right conservative party has a support base that is dropping off a cliff. What is emerging is a Labor/Teals/Greens/Independent (all center & center left) & irrelevant minors (all right of center). Compulsory voting, preferential voting & sectarianism has proved robust.

Both major parties are inextricably embedded in corporate money. This means that whilst being the wealthiest nation on the planet, you also have the most wealth inequality of all the first world. Why is that? Because your electoral system is deeply flawed. Mamdani & AOC/Sanders could change that.
