Writer & muck-a-rounder in the kitchen & in the bookshelves: licks, sucks & chews (with preference for the fatty, chewy and crunchy bits).

Reasonably new to Lutruwita/Tasmania.
Hats off to whomever raised our lovely new rescue. She's the sweetest, most polite Smithfield/Kelpie, and it took me a red hot few hours but finally worked out why she was called 'Juno'... Queen of the m'fkn Dogs 🤣

There is nothing better than miso soup for when you're feeling poorly. I really believe it's magic.

Last day of meds! Hurrah! They are ace bc they do the job, b also make me skewiff to the point of laughter. Had to count with my fingers six times how many days it had been since Sunday and I still am not confident I know that. I'm like a comic relief with nausea.

My sister asked me for my favourite potato dishes and my head exploded. I can't think of a more head-exploding question for me. I really, really can't, and I've spent a good hour now thinking 'is there are more complicated question?'

Why do I have a total craving for hot salami when my throat is fire. Number I just don't know how silly I am but despite fire on fire, I feel more physically in pain, but comforted. Hacking off a sliver of mouldy, fatty cured meat is my comfort world. Now to suck on ice.

2/2 I used to laugh that I diced with death eating raw crustacean but that was a little too ow to carry on being blasé about. So this is today's cautionary tale for people like me who think they can ignore allergies. Not being able to swallow is not fun.

1/2 An undercooked prawn on pizza = for me allergic reaction & a throat that feels like razor blades have gone through it now the swelling is down. Thank goodness for already being on antihistamines for hay fever. Might have been a bit worse if that hadn't been the case. A feeble 'yay' I guess.

I will fight people who use leaf blowers. Apart from people who are mean I hate nothing more. Please @ me because I will sneeze over you and throw your grass seed back atcha.

When friends have success I feel like the best. Makes me feel a bit more ok with the world.

I came onto bsky right now just to whinge about not having tissues handy as hay fever does its free flow that's on par with the Franklin. I think whinging on social media actually does a service, because our loved ones get less of it if we can do it elsewhere.

Hay fever day. What a sniffly day to be sniffling over service. Again, I need a t-shirt that reads: I don't have a cold or COVID, I just have hay fever.

Border patrol to Chicago. I think someone needs to do an explainer on this because that really seems nutjob and would have been laughed out of the Blues Bros script.

Wondering what our society would be like if there weren't so many amazing volunteers. Wondering why we don't factor in the work they do as necessary.

Am very curious as to find out if anyone thinks employment services providers are helpful to the degree that they are employed. #auspol

I just realised that the way I have been taught to fold linen is the only way one can when folding by yourself. #thatsmonday
November 10, 2025 at 5:01 AM
Load number ? washing linen from an old cupboard that hasn't seen the light of day since. I can hear Mum, Nana, Gran and great aunts all in some kind of army annoyed at good linen not being washed, aired, folded and stored correctly. There are worse armies in the world than the ghost linen police.

I know, I risk offending some of my dearest friends, but Christmas is not for November. November is a month where you feel harried about all the stuff you didn't do over the year and worry about the expense of the holiday season.
November 10, 2025 at 3:33 AM
Hang on. It's 10 November. I know I'm just joining legion of peeps utterly annoyed and an annual basis - but Christmas ads already? Feck off and feck off some more.

Really odd that overseas owned corps rotting beaches and waterways don't have the same scrutiny as market stalls in Tasmania

Gosh. And that's me swearing when my regular extremely potty-mouth is just gasping for new obscenities. A bit irked with some things. Golly. #worldisnotfair

I did not discourage a Halloween hot sauce challenge for the small boys - with my extensive collection. And I triple matched for doses. I guess that makes me either a bad adult or a great one.

Can the loading bay issues PLEASE be fixed? Nobody here needs yet another reason for touring performances not to come to Launceston.

So Sussan Ley, who says changing the spelling of her name was due to a punk past, took five days to clock Albanese wore a Joy Division t-shirt.
