I've been getting emails for weeks hyping the big day, and offering early deals. So many of these deals offer marginal savings, if any.

I'm on a cycle of buying refurbished phones via Swappa that still have 2-3 years of official support. You can get a decent used phone for around $200-250.

My last couple models have been Pixels, for the simple reason that they will run the de-Googled GrapheneOS.

I'm not an economist, and I don't pretend to have all the answers. But I can say with certainty that the unchecked capitalist growth that makes today's devices essentially disposable can't continue indefinitely.
