Let's start the season with something appropriate. #reading 💙📚

Some time ago I sent two stories to a cool new magazine. No confirmation. After a month I asked for updates: no reply. After three months I wrote to withdraw them: the next day the magazine shut down. I wonder if I had anything to do with it. Probably not, but it’s fun to think so. #writing

I like my (form) rejection letters as I like my whisky: short, straight, authentic.
Also, I don't drink whisky.

Recently, I received a (form) rejection letter that was surprisingly long, almost like a summary of a psychiatry manual on managing antisocial individuals. Being an editor must not be easy. #writing #authors #writingcommunity

Lower Decks’ win is the first time in 30 years that a Star Trek story has won a Hugo Award.

The last one was “All Good Things” in 1995.

The true reason why the drive-through lines are so long
A digital illustration of a dragon sleeping on the roof of a burger joint ("Up n Away burger" a parody of In-n-out) drive-through at sunset. The dragon's tail is blocking the drive-through. Employees have mixed reactions, both laughing and frustrated. The car line is backing up. Some drivers laugh and take pics, others are annoyed.

Since it's almost Midsummer...
A giant, red, goat-headed demon sits on a stone throne in a subterranean chamber.
"So, it is decided: on midsummer's eve, my words shall spew forth across the land like black fire!"

"We prefer to call it 'publication day'" says his publicist.

"..And we were hoping you might do some social media to to promote the book?"

Things turmn dark, the demon's goat eyes glow
"I cannot fathom the accursed opiate screens that so enthral your kind."

"Yeah, some of our other authors feel that way, but that's why we have Toby: he's an absolute whiz!" she replies, introducing a small man.

"I'll set you up on twitter and you'll be corrupting Souls in no time!" says Toby.

A caption reads: "An hour later"

The demon now has his head in his hands and moans:
"I can endure this Foul parade of doltish barbarity No longer! Please deactivate My account, wizard Toby"

I also love the cover, it fits perfectly with the mood of the story, and for some reason it reminds me of the paintings by Arnold Böcklin.
