Interested in the information ecosystem (especially in difficult places) AI's impacts, politics all over the place, and cat photos. Strongly convinced that bad pizza is still better than no pizza.
Never discuss what is a biscuit with British people, what is chili with Texans, how to make pasta with Italians, or what is inside bitterballen with a Netherlander

That Trump believed the fake Fox News story which was prompted by his own lies about Portland is also a great example of him "drinking his own kool aid".

It illustrates a potentially deadly cycle of self reinforcing bullshit.

Excellent response by Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema to the Israeli government - which tried to bully the Amsterdam city government into forcing (somehow) a local concert hall into showcasing the Chief Cantor of the IDF (a singer who represents the military on official occasions).

Shit no. Stupid clickbait headline.

Republicans dismantled the Dept of Education, are waging war against academic freedom, and their vision of promoting private schools is all about rich getting richer by trashing public school funding.

The weirdest fake accounts I have following me pretend to be George Soros. They all have pretty much the same bio and all start have this lame anti-Trump meme pinned.

And yes, I am blocking and reporting.

It is truly mystifying. There is probably no real explanation for why Republicans elites care deeply about some government costs but not this one.

Surprisingly you can really make a difference. Keep your "circle of control" in mind to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Here's a list of practical actions. Everyone can find something here they would want to do:

Happy 4th of July everyone! 🇺🇸

Some things I'm thankful for today:

- BBQs

- Fireworks

- The millions of Americans who have been standing up for their neighbors and our democracy

- Politicians like @hakeemjeffries @raskin.house.gov @vanhollen.senate.gov who won't back down

In general, more and more people are using social media as a news source, though the trend is less in Europe, helping fuel the growth of a personality-driven alternative media sector.

Unfortunately, a large percentage of people in the USA still use Twitter for news

Finding what's at the core of the seed of your idea and then growing that into something that has leaves and stuff. Fun and actually great talk by Derek Mitchell @letsdoubledutch.bsky.social at the #TNWconference

More worrying than mysteriously missing socks, is when new pairs start showing up in my drawer without explanation.

Maybe it's a good thing no one has elected me President.

Only good thing Trump has ever done. They are smug bastards.

My first reaction to your post was, "this is really a stretch to compare a LLM and British colonialism". But actually... Yeah, it does fit.

This is my favorite photo from the whole selection this year.

I have never been such a tough situation. But as a parent I can relate and empathize. I keep coming back to it.

Weirdly, it's blocked if you're overseas. Because I guess you don't want foreigners (or any Americans living abroad) to see your very official and important government website.

I find this element "the Point" really interesting. A black dot say it is at the center of the identity. It makes me think of a the singularity at the heart of a black hole.

I wonder if this was intentional - as a company working towards the AI singularity.

I am going to have a hard time explaining to my family why we are eating rectangular school lunch pizza for dinner tomorrow.

Is it possible that Trump does not actually know how Presidential elections work? Or his brain addled by too much processed food and prescription medication?

I love all the David Mayer ChatGPT excitement. They've fixed that one by the way. But other names still produce errors like it.

This is a great reminder that ChatGPT is a pretty cool tool, but at the end of the day it is a a software program with bugs like all software.
