Got it working. SQL Agent needed running with the same account that SQL runs under... maybe this isn't recommended practice and there are other options available, but for my test environment it worked fine for what I need. Thanks again.

Thank you but no luck I'm afraid, the 3 instances are on the same machine but I just can't seem to get them to talk to each other. TCP just keeps failing. No firewalls blocking. I'll try again in the morning. Thanks again!

Any tips for getting SQL Server Database Mirroring working on PC with 3 instances (primary, mirror and witness). PC not connected to domain so instances are run using a user account which is sysadmin on all 3. TCP enabled and mirror endpoint created, but won’t start as it fails to connect #sqlhelp
