Aquatic ecologist specialising in fish. Also very interested in moths, including leaf-mining larvae.
Unfortunately, not possible to be sure with vacated mines.

It's best to breed oak Phyllo mines out or check the pupal cremaster.

And Bucculatrix ulmella.

Yes, it's very satisfying to find cryptic cases like those!

I think we got 92 species in 1 day once, but ran out of time rather than habitat!

Good luck! They seem to prefer small- or large-leaved rather than than common lime. I've found it in North Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Cheshire, etc., but never East Yorkshire until now.

Blimey, I only got two moths!

Good job I didn't go to Potteric Carr to look for it last weekend! I've been checking limes in VC 61 for Stigmella tiliae for years without luck. It might be a relief if someone else finds it!

Brilliant, well done! One of the best mines, in my opinion. I haven't looked round my way this year yet. Fingers crossed!

Brilliant, well done! I was sure it must be in the county somewhere. No sign at the couple of places I've looked for it in VC 61.

The colonisation of Yorkshire has also been impressive!

There would surely be enough interest? There's an annual BCY/YNU meeting in Yorkshire and it's well attended. You hear about the previous year's highlights in advance of the annual report, there are regular updates and guest speakers, and you can chat to like-minded people (if you want to!).

I'd love to find some, surely they must also occur in Yorkshire near you!
