> what if i recompile my os with zen4 optimizations

I've honestly had a very bad experience with atomic linux distributions for reasons like this

really tried to like them but developing everything in a container (especially when devcontainers breaks with podman) was so cumbersome i ended up learning nix
anglesideangle.dev
i need to actually learn numpy

may I share with you the Good News of nix?

tom is a genius

turns out the issue was a custom bazel rule with a hard coded dependency on /bin/mv that silently failed if /bin/mv didn't exist

12 hours of my life gone, but not really a bazel issue

sorry, I meant impl<T: Trait> TExtension for T, which imo isn't very awkward
anglesideangle.dev
yeah in retrospect that would've been a better option. this repo has a couple hundred external dependencies that conflict with each other during `bazel fetch` in the nix builder directory for some reason

crashing out

packaging large bazel projects for nix is soooo annoying

this rfc seems pretty java brained, i hope it doesn't get accepted. the drawbacks section straight up outlines `impl dyn Trait` (and `impl<T: Trait> T`) blocks accomplishing the same thing

Astute observation, you're almost there

the typst cli and compiler is apache 2 licenced and there is extensive open developer tooling eg. tinymist

trying out noctalia on top of niri:
- not broken
- so much less configuration
- consistent ui
- reasonably snappy with animations disabled (qt/quickshell)
anglesideangle.dev
i stumbled upon noctalia shell and dank material shell, both of these seem to provide nice shells that aren't tied to a de or a ball of duct tape and waybar/mako/swaylock/swaync/etc

are there any good wayland native application launchers / dmenu impls? i'm looking for smth like macos spotlight or krunner and rofi-wayland is not it
anglesideangle.dev
i haven't, but this would indeed solve the Drama™

maybe jay is masterminding a plan where someone creates a woker bluesky on atproto and meaningful decentralization is achieved

every time i've gotten into an argument on this site it's been someone invoking me being in college and therefore inexperienced (the goalposts move!) or asserting that i worship computers

if only rust had linear types too...
anglesideangle.dev
imo calling it "borrow checking" as a compartmentalized feature makes rust much more intimidating to new and experienced programmers. it's just the compiler naturally enforcing the & xor &mut aliasing rules

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...
