The restored Shrine of St Melangell, St Melangell’s Church, Pennant Melangell. Such a still place, such a Sacred place, such serenity. Such a blessing for this Druid to be able to visit and absorb that peace. #SmallBeautiesHour

The Yew Trees in the Churchyard at St Melangell’s Church are amazing, apparently they are at least 2000 years old and their presence suggests a pre-Christian origin for this Sacred place. Just look at them! #SmallBeautiesHour

The gentle serenity of St Melangell’s Church in Pennant Melangell. Such a peaceful place of sanctuary to visit, whether like me, you are a Druid, or if you are a Christian, or have no faith. #SmallBeautiesHour

I grew these cultivated Bellis perennis from some free seeds last year - and the forget-me-nots grew themselves from seed, they self seed everywhere in the garden! #SmallBeautiesHour

Red Campion just about to burst into flower under the old apple tree! #SmallBeautiesHour I love Red Campion, one of my favourite wild flowers, it’s so pretty and self seeds all over my garden! We also love Forget-me-nots and they also self seed all over the garden

Snakeshead Fritillaries are such fascinating flowers, I’ve quite a few coming up now in a corner of the wild area of the garden, they always make me think of art nouveau flowers #SmallBeautiesHour

The Lungwort / Pulmonaria is flowering in the garden at the moment . It always reminds me of my grandmother’s garden. I do like the delicacy of the flowers! #SmallBeautiesHour

This Small Beauty made me really excited! A few years ago my late best friend’s mum sent me some tiny hellebore seedlings from her own plants and these are the first flowers they have produced. A contrast to my mature Hellebore which has less evident markings on white sepals. #SmallBeautiesHour

The first of the Snakeshead fritillaries has popped up in the wilder area of the garden. They seem earlier than usual this year! I love the way the flower buds nod gracefully on the elegant stem. #SmallBeautiesHour

The first Forget-me-nots are appearing in the garden! So exciting! Soon, there’ll be a sea of blue flowers in some of the parts of the garden where they have self seeded enthusiastically but these first tiny flowers feel so special! #SmallBeautiesHour

Just look at these crocuses! I love the way they open right up in the Spring sunshine and brighten up the grass like little purple jewels. #SmallBesutiesHour

Hooray! I made it to #SmallBeautiesHour ! Our primroses in the garden all bloom at different times but the earliest of all are those underneath the Alder tree, amongst the bugle. I just find them such a hopeful sign of Spring! Most of the primroses won’t be out for weeks yet!

Also this week for #SmallBeautiesHour I saw the first of our hellebore flowers which are right down the bottom end of the garden…they always nod downwards towards the ground but it was just too muddy to get right down to photograph up into the flower!

Nadolig Llawen and Merry Christmas!
Today’s reading: Moominland Midwinter, today’s chapter of The Dark is Rising and The Lightbringers!

Also for #SmallBeautiesHour the jolly sunshine of Gorse flowers, which can be found all year round - there’s always a Gorse bush blooming around here. A little bit of Winter sunshine held in glowing golden flowers! Look at them, they always make me smile, especially in December!

Also for #SmallBeautiesHour Hedge Woundwort, Stachys sylvatica. It might be pungent, but the flowers are so delicately beautiful. I found some still in flower near us here in Eryri. Just look at the tiny flowers, they are as beautiful and intricate as orchids!
