This Sunday, I’ll be joining the Our Vote Counts Town Hall live on TikTok. This is about bringing working people, grassroots organizers, and communities together for a real conversation about the future of our country.
I get asked sometimes why are you running? The truth is, it’s because it bothers me to my core to see how disconnected Washington has become from the struggles of everyday people in Manatee and Hillsborough Counties.
👉 We’re taxed nearly 50% of our income, yet we don’t have universal healthcare, universal schooling, high-speed rail, or infrastructure that matches what other nations have.
👉 Congress racks up a $38 trillion debt, but somehow always finds billions to send overseas while Americans here fall further behind.
👉 We can park three destroyers off the coast of Venezuela at $40 million a day, but can’t send one ship to escort a humanitarian flotilla carrying food and water.
👉 535 members of Congress can’t balance a checkbook, but never miss a paycheck themselves.
It hurts me to see people struggling right here at home while the government we’re forced to fund prioritizes everything but us. And while I don’t claim one person alone can flip the system, I know this: if we put 100 new progressive, independent voices in Congress, we could begin to steer this ship back on course. That’s where change starts.
This Town Hall is about YOU your voice, your questions, your concerns. So tune in, be part of the conversation, and let’s make it loud and clear: we’re done being ignored.
