If the Liberals are so incensed by the parliamentary entitlements rules, why didn’t they change them in the ten years they were in power? Maybe after Bronnie took the chopper ride, or Susssan charged the taxpayer her flights to buy a Gold Coast apartment?

This is one of the most confronting things I've read in recent memory.

Despite the title, it's not about the environmental impacts of AI - it's about extreme tech oligarchy.

Does anyone have an argument or three to refute it? It seems logical to me.

You forgot to mention how much water AI consumes.
I used to think climate change posed the biggest threat to the existence of humankind. Now, I think AI is more likely to wipe out the majority of humans, faster than climate change will.

While the 2025 federal election inquiry has shown there was a clear rise in hostility at election booths around the country, Tim Wilson's electorate of Goldstein seems to have reached another level.

Wilson has no boundaries and no morals. He’s been vindicated by being back in Parliament. He’s spying on and taunting his constituents and will continue to do so. Also right wing parties inc LNP will use these tactics elsewhere for as long as the AEC is powerless to stop them. #auspol #AEC

This is like an Advent calendar, only this one’s about Labor politicians. Each day The Guardian will release news of a Labor politician claiming family travel. If we are seeing this level of hysteria from The Guardian & ABC for things supposedly in the rules, wait till they find something illegal.
New: trade minister Don Farrell charged taxpayers $9000 over three years for his family’s travel costs around Australia after being invited to football games, tennis matches, a sunset dinner at Uluru and a wine event, parliamentary records show

I’m 15 years old and have a disability. Social media has been a lifeline – why is the government kicking me off? | Ezra Sholl
As I come to terms with life as a quadriplegic, Instagram and TikTok are a reminder that I’m not alone The government has decided that from Wednesday I should be banned from social media because of the potential harm it can cause. But as a teenager with a severe disability, who relies on social media for connection, community and access to a largely inaccessible world, this policy actually has the potential to create further harm. When I was 12, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which triggered a rare nerve condition that has paralysed me. My preteen years were spent in an ICU ward, on a ventilator, going through chemotherapy. Before I got sick I did not have any social media. It turned out that all I had to do was end up in a coma, because when I woke, I had a new iPhone14, with every accessibility feature. Having Instagram and Snapchat made me feel less disconnected. I had a window into the outside world, and my friends had a window into my world between hospital visits. Continue reading...

This is one of Albanese’s three great betrayals of the Australian people.

1. Woodside over the environment and indigenous heritage

2. US military complex over the entire budget and our sovereignty

3. Gambling industry over the most vulnerable.

Pure ALP.

Andrew Wilkie has asked the PM to allow a free vote on banning gambling advertising and it appears many Labor MPs would support it.
