They only eat termites which they find underground while burrowing. Eggs are laid in the burrow and have no tadpole stage - so the only time they need to emerge is finding mates.

After several failed attempts, we finally found a Turtle Frog (Myobatrachus gouldii). Endemic to SW Australia, they only emerge a few nights a year to find mates.
