I had to fence every inch of flower bed off from Waylon-last fall, he very kindly "pruned" ALL of my roses, an Annabelle Hydrangea, took out my tree peony, and generally caused havoc.
They all look imprisoned. The snapdragons are sad, the peonies were furious.
