It's almost one week since our beautiful dog Korra crossed the rainbow bridge, and the reality of those words still leaves me utterly bereft.

I'm unmoored, at a total loss.
She was everything; a big silly goof, a philosopher, a shiny new soul we were entrusted with on earth.

My heart is broken.

Admittedly, I agree.
I spent time today crafting a smaller one instead.

🧶

Much nicer on my crochet hat.

I made a prototype pompom for one of my newest Tunisian crochet pattern samples. 🧶

Is it too big, do you think...?

I've been meaning to crochet with this Mirasol Miski yarn for quite some time, now. About fifteen years, in fact. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

But as I always say, there's no rushing a good thing! 🧶

Show us your mugs, people!

Same energy.
Massive respect for both. ❤️

I support the Women with Horsewhips and Bells party.

Seems there was a tiny glitch with the Patreon discount code, folks. My fault.

But I have it fixed now, so your discount will apply on top of the sale price successfully now.

Sorry!

Things are getting cozy here at Yarn Towers.

That's two crochet patterns released & several more to come between now & Christmas. 🧶

#BeehiveHat is caring for curly hair, with a loose crown and a self-tightening band. And #TectonicShawl uses only 340m of 4-ply yarn for an easy-to-wear neck warmer.

Crochet shawl, just completed.
I'm very happy with how cozy this is.

I'm slooooowly getting through my Tunisian crochet pattern-writing backlog, here.

This wee beaut is called #TectonicShawl, after the way the centre buckles and ruffles under pressure. It sure is cozy!

I made this, then showed it to my guy, and he didn't get it.

But then, he doesn't knit, or crochet, or craft at all, so... I'm asking you all.

Is this funny to you? 🧶
(no offence to quilters. I think you're v. talented people with a fab sense of humour)

My unconventional crochet shawl blocking spot. 🧶

Anything to keep the dog from trotting all over it, right? 🤷🏼‍♀️😇

The creative hill I'll die on.

Grey and Gray are two different colours.

I don't know about you all, but sometimes, an exceptionally simple project will call to me, and I'm powerlessto resist.

I'm delighted how well this light Tunisian crochet hat has turned out.

2 days to design and make. Not bad! 🧶

The #BeehiveHat is designed especially for curly crocheters and big-haired heads.

The generous crown helps to keep your curls and locks from getting squished & the loose brim reduces frizz when pulled on.

Never fear, though! The brim tightens once it's on, so you still get that coziness. 🧶

This, truly was a long time coming, folks.
I crocheted this sample last spring.
I got it edited last summer.
My testers rifled through it all autumn...

Then I sat on it like a reluctant hen for a year. 🐔 Bok Bok.

But, finally I'm clearing my 🧶design backlog, and this lovely little piece is first.

This, from Interweave.

We popped up to the Hill of Tara (seat of the High Kings of Ireland fadó fadó), and it's just lovely to see the Síle still being honoured like this.

Ireland may be modern, now, but we don't forget our roots

Same article in English and Irish in the Journal.ie
Hilarious that it seems they also 'translated' the photo! 🤣

It's rainy days like today that I'm delighted I thought to stash an Irish Hiking Hat in every jacket. 🧶

This is not the skirt shape I'll be using, but I think a bodice looks more at home with some sort of skirt attached.

So, this is where I left off yesterday.

The darts on the right are inside out 💀 but the shape is good, so I'm happy.

Later, I'll sew the side seams, try it on, and adjust. 🧶🪡👗

Okay, okay. So this is where I am so far.
September 10, 2025 at 6:43 PM
This, by the way, is very much me designing the dress & trying out draping for the first time.
🧶

I've taken my first fabric draft, traced it onto brown paper, and added a 2 cm seam allowance all the way around. I err on the side of too much fabric.

I then cut those pieces out. Eeeeeeh!

Today is my birthday!
And I've decided to spend it making and crafting.

I've a list as long as my arm of "not-work" projects that I've been dying to crack into, and today's the day I'm going to indulge.

Project One.
Dress for a cousin's wedding.

I popped her out on one of my baby trees in the warmth. She fluttered and settled.
