Another monkey making small indie games. I combine surreal horror with odd gameplay mechanics.

A thread about my main games on Steam: https://bsky.app/profile/apehardware.bsky.social/post/3l3bn4x5nww2e

Itch.io: https://apehardware.itch.io/
One last surprise for #Halloween: during the next 3 days (October 30-November 1) you can get my Steam projects with least reviews, 100% off on @itch.io

Also, my (much better) projects are discounted for the #steamsale. Plenty of surreal horror with wild gameplay mechanics here:

Screw my dignity.

"Captain Poweryarn: The Juegazo" is now released on Itch, and 100% for the #halloween sale.

apehardware.itch.io/flesh-shark-...

A messy Unreal game that takes mascot horror and turns it into a surreal, unrecognizable thing.

After all the issues I had with Odiumfloreo post-release, I've been thinking all of the constant gameplay switch-ups I put on my larger games aren't worth the effort.
So I made this small point-and-click thing to test out a simpler approach:

"Odiumfloreo": a physics-based sit-n-survive.
It began with the incredibly dumb idea of mixing FNaF with Enviro-bear 2000, and spiraled into a abstract body horror nightmare that takes physics-based mechanics and does all sort of weird shit with them.

Fun fact: Odiumfloreo originally was a scrapped concept for a fangame that mixed FNaF and Enviro-bear 2000 of all things.

Here's a post explaining everything I could recall about it: gamejolt.com/p/the-never-...

Forgot to post it here, but Odiumfloreo got a few upgrades before release in the form of minigames. 3 of them, 5 levels each, all centered around physics-based nonsense.

Releasing soon.

The final decision has been made: screw Next Fest, release it earlier because it's done (Except testing. Testing is never truly done).

The Steam page is up: store.steampowered.com/app/3956560/...

Aiming for a Halloween release. The new version will have brand new mechanics and a new "point-and-click" section to expand the jam version's almost non-existent plot.

Sayonara Sigil Sentry might get some company in the "jam game updated and posted to Steam" in the near future...

Took part on the #GMTK game jam.

The theme was "loop" so I made "IMMORTAL JELLYFISH WITH GUNS", a bullet hell shooter in which the character loops through different forms with an unique attack each.

An engine made by a million-dolar company and it decides to not fucking load menu buttons on the exported build.

I needed a break so I reworked an old game I was disappointed with, Terminal Veil. New mechanics, new plot, new levels.

And I'm finally happy with it.

Forget cutscenes, we have doodles.

(It's obvious Unreal really tires me, isn't it?)

I'm reaching the end of this project and I need some feedback.

I'm thinking of telling the instructions and plot using diagrams, sorta like SCP-2521. ¿What game mechanics do you think these pictures are trying to explain?

The Apehardware activist arc is real.
Behold, the "fuck algorithmic social media" jam game:
apehardware.itch.io/literal-doom...

It's basically playable doomscrolling, plus eldritch horror.

Trying to get back at doing pre-rendered visuals so I don't have to rely on stock images for everything.

This was done entirely with Blender (and some GIMP filters), no photo textures. Haven't touched this kind of style since my FNaF fangame era (...vietnam flashbacks...).

Lately I've been moving my stuff (email, file hosting...) to EU/Open source providers to avoid US Big Tech (Steam and Itch are fine, they stay).

Today I've something few dare to.

I have deleted my Google account.

My game trailers are now on Peertube: videos.abnormalbeings.space/c/apehardwar...

This is still happening, I'm just really slow with Unreal (and I fucking hope to never see it again after I complete the course) and I'd rather do stuff with Godot.

Needles to say, the "mascot horror" element is going to be a satire of how the genre has become an excuse to sell crappy content.

New game jam project out now: "T: (M, E, A)", a turn-based game in which actions are determined by coordinates on a board.
Featuring a short, vague and definitely apolitical plot about a native Siberian shaman fighting invading mechanical biblical orthodox angels.

"Sayonara Sigil Sentry": a short boss rush mixing bullet hell with "Connect the dots".
Instead of shooting the bosses, you have to mark the points of a randomly-generated rune to damage them.
Heavy inspirations from Evangelion and Midwest Angelica on this one.
