Developed and published by Capcom in 1999 for the PS1, this game is currently unavailable to be purchased or played on modern platforms, so you know what to do.

Game 282: The Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

Tron needs money to pay her brother's debt, and she'll do anything to get it in this really funny game that mix a whole bunch of genres. Shooting, dungeon crawling, puzzle solving—as long as there's a payout at the finish line, Tron rises to the challenge.

I heard that's a really special one, so take your time with it. But after you're done with it, do consider giving Absolum a try, there's a demo available on Steam 👀
apesnake3.bsky.social
GLADLY! It is a super stylish, beautifully animated fantasy beat 'em up that, yes, is also a roguelike!! Just take a look at those animations and combos!! 😍

Morning Meagan! Just chillin' at work, waiting for the time to go home and play this banger of a game. What about you?
apesnake3.bsky.social
October is absolutely stacked with good games, but this is the big one for me, so everything else will have to wait 🤣

GOOD MORNING, AND HAPPY ABSOLUM RELEASE DAY!!!

Man, seeing my favorite genre (beat 'em ups) being combined with my most recent obsession (rouguelikes) by one of my favorite publishers, to say I was looking forward to it would be a huge understatement. I can't wait to get home and finally play it.

First one would be Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, because of course it would. And then, probably Tony Hawk's Underground, Jak 2 and Ratchet 2. It feels bad leaving F-Zero behind, but I'll live 😅

These extra characters look kinda cool. I have to give the original a replay one of these days, but I'll wait and see if there's a sale on the Switch so I can give them a try!!
apesnake3.bsky.social
What really caught my attention in the remake was the sprite art, it looks super slick. But I'll give the original a replay before thinking about getting it, because it's been a while!!

Great list!! Love to see Guardians and Battle Circus getting some love.

And it reminded me I really need to play that new Ninja Warriors game, heard really good things about it.

Always glad to see some old SNK ports getting added. The SNES port of Fatal Fury Special, although obviously not as good as the arcade original, is really enjoyable, and has a great roster too.

My experience with Castlevania Lords of Shadow has been really positive so far. The combat is basic but fun, it looks really good and Gabriel is a surprisingly compelling character. I don't know if I'm "invested" in this story yet, but I'm enjoying it.

Oh, and also Claudia. I like her, she's neat.

That's a fair point, every franchise you listed managed to outclass Double Dragon with ease. And nothing worthwhile of note was released between the original trilogy and Neon, so really, it's more about Double Dragon pioneering the genre than the quality of the franchise itself.
apesnake3.bsky.social
I really like the franchise's old stuff. I haven't played Neon, but I did play a lot of Gaiden, the one they released a couple of years ago, and it is a really great beat 'em up.

it's a strong brand with a strong legacy, but they really don't know how to make it appealing to a broader audience 🤷🏻‍♂️
apesnake3.bsky.social
I still need to play that one!! Heard a lot of good things about it.

And to be honest, the exact same description applies to Heihachi from Tekken, but I won't post twice in a row this time 😶‍🌫️

G: Geese Howard (Fatal Fury/The King of Fighters)

Dude's the embodiment of ambition and persistence. He's an evil dude that refuses to be stopped in his pursue for power.

Oh, and he also refuses to stay dead, there's that too. So he might also be the embodiment of stubbornness 🤣
apesnake3.bsky.social
And also, I'm still a little bitter about the fact that they're calling this game "Revive", as if they're bringing the franchise back, when only two years ago a legitimate 10/10 beat 'em up was released in the franchise with Double Dragon Gaiden. But I digress.
apesnake3.bsky.social
As far as this month's releases go, Double Dragon Revive remains the biggest uncertainty for me.

On the one hand, more beat 'em up goodness is always good, hell yeah. But I'm not convinced by the way this game looks and the somewhat generic art direction.

I'll wait and see, but I hope it's good.

It was made in a happy place formerly known as "Pop Cap Games", a place which today houses the Plants vs Zombies mines and nothing else 🥲
