Retired. Groks Orbital Mechanics, and stellar distances.

Occasionally ponders - "Yes, but *where* did the dust for the accretion disk come from???"

Lego, Pratchett, Banks, Single Malt, 2OO1 ASO, Tangerine Dream
Two important things... a) the VP still lives, and b) we are still firm friends.

Hopefully... I'm a little resigned to always missing out! I reported to a VP some years back, who was reassigned to a different division. He decided that they needed a little motivation and called in Messrs Lovell and Krantz to speak to them. He then sent me a CD of the audio, knowing my interest.

DAMN! Had I but known, I would have been there... Rushed over to the BIS' website to sign up to get updates in the future... Easiest £0 I've ever spent!

Very nice. But, alas, about 60 years too late... ;-)

@theplanetaryguy.bsky.social I'm going to be kind this time, and pass on the usual Venus-related dig.

It must be bloody hard for 'Planetary Bastards' like you when things like this occurred 20 years in the past, and future missions require the shedding of blood, sweat, and tears to be considered.

2012 shot of half of Babbage's brain, Science Museum, London. On a subsequent visit circa 2023, it appears as though the museum had 'lost track' of the item. Conversely, there is no apparent brain in the feckless youth seen on the left, who is purportedly doing something 'with AI' these days.

Don't forget that you've got to fall onto a discarded lens cap! ;-)

I wish that these things were even-balanced... I'm not allowed to even "gently suggest" that the newly unarchived Polly-Pockets/Barbies/play food disappear again in the lead up to Christmas because "the grandkids might still want to play with them!"

Virtually, hopefully! (No room left on shelves)

It only works if you're photoshopping in pictures of Lego Star Wars sets...

@dsfpspacefl1ght.bsky.social Stu Copeland likely used his father's CIA connections to obtain permission. ;-)

Try your mum with Bluey. You might be pleasantly surprised...

Tequila before the encore at the matinee?

He doesn't go to driving ranges... He *knows* that he doesn't need to practice...

Yes. But only gently.

There's a reference to "Irish Free State" - that puts it in the period 1922-1937. Central Australia only existed from 1927 to 1931.

I keep seeing friends who haven't got a clue how to use a QR code. They've got 1200+ *unopened* emails in the inbox on their mobile phone because "that's how many emails they've had since they bought their phone."

These dinosaurs will soon be gone, but until then, we have to be nice to them...

I am no lawyer, but what if the intended target is incapable of feeling distress or anxiety?

Can you imagine the reaction of the Great Train Robbers if they had accidentally swiped the sacks of inbound samples after a rumour that "There's plenty of sh*t in these postings!"

Note, I'm staying well clear of what might constitute an "offensive communication" in favour of the experts! ;-)
