It's always a joy working with the brilliant CHP team on the Castleton/Hope Project. I can't express my admiration for the volunteers, students, and community who've kept it thriving for over a decade—excited for the next season of discovery!

Today is National Memory Day!🧠✨

What better way to celebrate than with one of our newest publications by @archaeodwan.bsky.social. This book explores the processes of memory-making using GIS-based case studies in southwestern Britain.🏺

There’s something extraordinary about this otherwise pretty standard Late Bronze Age axehead:

A human fingerprint. A real, visible and tangible connection to someone from 3000 years ago. If that doesn’t give you goosebumps, idk what will. 🥹

Photo of a Bronze Age socketed axe head with a zoomed in thumbnail of a finger print on one of the faces towards the blade edge. The axe is dark green with oxidation and the surface of the blade edge has been lost.

oh wow a second white horse!
Paul's lovely picture of Urunga hillfort under snow with a rudimentary and frankly sarcastic outline of a horse drawn in thick yellow lines that follow the Ridge of the hill and paths of various lanes leading to it
