I love indulging my kid. But I can't imagine buying a wardrobe and convertible for a toy that comes out for a month each year that my kid just stares at while I covertly play with it. Either a lot of kids are playing with these or a lot of my fellow parents have a seasonal toy collection.

When we got our Elf my daughter immediately picked it up and hugged it and started introducing it to her other toys and so on. Then we read the book that's all DO NOT TOUCH OR CHRISTMAS WILL DIE AND IT WILL BE YOUR FAULT SPECIFICALLY and had to make up a rule that it's okay as long as she's gentle.

The word "blood" was in the theme song, they knew it, obviously Fox didn't have an issue with it... but nope, we got endless gibberish about plasma.

The way I've heard it, the Spider-Man cartoon is a weird case because the production team did a lot of self-censoring and then created stories that ran right into their own rules. IIRC it was their choice to only have laser guns (but also Punisher) and not say "blood" (but also have vampires).

I've seen Paul Dini make some charitable comments about how BS&P made the show better in many ways because they would often come up with something less direct and more "artistic" in the edit.
He also admits to purposely putting terrible things in scripts just to horrify them. 🤣

Turbo got mangled by cast changes, soft reboots, and general filler. Not really a wonder it nearly killed the franchise. The sentai it's based on is essentially comedy-drama about teens who shouldn't have driver's licenses, and I wish they'd leaned into it because it could have been magical. 😄

Very possible. I know some of the READ posters started with a celebrity being asked what their favorite book was and a bit of brainstorming over the answer. A lot of them trade on a specific role or reputation of the celebrity. Sometimes it's tough to say which. 🤷♂️

Original. All the loose ones on top of the boxes are originals that I picked up yesterday. Traded in a bunch of stuff for credit and immediately uh, "reinvested" it. 😅

I maintain Divatox is one of the best villains in the franchise because she's that perfect mix of humorous and sinister. We'd remember her more fondly if she wasn't saddled with the season where Cassie dates her dog.

I still think it's obscene that one of the best cinematic understandings of Superman comes from this movie and... you know, not more of the Superman movies. 😞
