Accessibility barriers in transport and public spaces were a rights issue for many more members:

2. Not Being Listened To or Included

Many talked about not being listened to, respected and included in decisions about their lives, health and support:

💬 ‘Hospital – DNR policy, guardianship, not being asked about these decisions’

The majority of NIN members talked about their rights not being met through their social care support:
💬 ‘People deciding to make cut back on day services. We have a right to be involved in day services’

A few people felt that their rights were met through:
• having the right housing 💬 ‘Now I am living on my own and happy’
• access to education 💬 ‘Access to education’
• being able to vote 💬 ‘Getting to vote in elections’

Other NIN members felt that travel was important as well as when places and information are accessible:
💬 ‘Music festival employed accessibility staff: accessible parking, changing places, accessible bar, accessible wheelchair viewing platform, alternative comms like BSL, accessible entrances’
