truly one of my favorite vandy easter eggs. also probably the most heated I’ve ever seen Tim Corbin was after that game, despite the fact that they won. I suspect that set this transfer in motion 😂😂
You sent me down a rabbit hole thinking about some of those guys and gosh was I surprised to find out where Mack Whitcomb is now

the concept of college baseball midweeks would break the brains of everyone who doesn't want G5 teams in the CFP

People posting about “cold stove” need to know that the one year I had the opportunity to go to winter meetings only one trade happened the entire time and it was at 10 pm after I had left the hotel

I will admit that I think one of the only good uses of AI is automatic transcription of podcasts, because I don’t want to listen to 90 minutes of people talking about stuff when I could skim a transcription in a few minutes
I don't think this is a particularly bad video in that she does credit the article author extensively. My issue is that the article, which she describes as "extremely long," takes less time to read than watching the video does, and you actually get all the information
a type of content that makes me want to launch myself into space and is huge part of why everything is so bad: TikToker goes down a “rabbit hole,” makes 9-minute video. The “rabbit hole” was she found an Eater article. The Eater journalist did all the work: www.tiktok.com/t/ZTruBS8cp/

the thing with BYU is that they got blown out again by the same team they'd already been blown out by. so they didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know. they aren't close to as good as Texas Tech. the first game wasn't a fluke. there's really no argument to drop them!
(on a plane and catching up)

Dropping BYU for yesterday but not Alabama is such a perfect chef's kiss on top of all of this. Honestly disgraceful, makes FSU's omission in 2023 look like a picnic

JMU is also better than Tulane, significantly so, by every metric. JMU is a borderline top 25 team in predictive metrics!
They really couldn't have put 12-1 JMU vs. Ole Miss and 11-2 Tulane vs. Oregon just to avoid an Ole Miss-Tulane rematch? Not the biggest deal, but still.
December 7, 2025 at 5:42 PM
also the fact that by staying at 9 they're matched up with a team they already played. lame!
not even dropping alabama to 10 as a “okay you need to punished a little bit” move is just insane. is the sport about playing football games or not?

something funny to me about Molly McGrath being set up in a room and saying that Manny Diaz isn't even there because he's watching from home 😭

Yeahhhhhh Duke ain't getting in
December 7, 2025 at 5:18 PM
This lays pretty bare why mega-conferences and their unbalanced scheduling is a problem for the playoff. You have some teams from the same conference getting a shot at way more CFP resume boosting wins than others
Wins vs. bowl-eligible
JMU - 7
BYU - 6
Duke - 5
Bama - 5
ND - 5
Vandy - 4
Miami - 4
Texas - 3

Wins vs. 7+ win P4
Duke - 5
Bama - 5
BYU - 5
Vandy - 3
Miami - 3
ND - 3
Texas - 3
JMU - 0

MVFC and Big Sky are to FCS what the SEC thinks they are to FBS

I have never cared about pitcher wins more than I do now that I have a guy in OOTP who has led the league in wins 8 years in a row 😭
December 6, 2025 at 5:38 PM
Everyone talking about how Texas is proof that SEC teams should never schedule tough non-conference games needs to also look at the case of Vanderbilt, a team whose conference schedule ended up softer than expected and really could've used a marquee non-con win instead of Virginia Tech

BYU and Coastal Carolina played a game on short notice in 2020. Why can’t Vanderbilt?

Here’s why it’s more complicated than finding an opponent willing to play them:

Why Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt couldn't play 13th game to bolster CFP resume
Here's why Vanderbilt football couldn't play a 13th game to try to impress the CFP committee.

Radical idea that I'm not even sure I'm in favor of, but what about banning defensive replacements?

Make it so that a position player can only enter the game if they hit for someone in the lineup, unless the defensive player suffered an injury and had to be taken out
(I'd ban positioning cards on the field and limit glove size, to start.)

O Holy Night is also a great vehicle for exceptional vocalists. Josh Groban or Celine Dion or gtfo
Not Christian, but: O Holy Night.

It captures a feeling of hope in cold and darkness and the idea of transformative events

It channeled Christianity and transcendentalist abolitionism, speaking with the authority of G-d to a nation that still practiced the sin of slavery
What is your favorite "Christian" Christmas song and what is your favorite "Secular" Christmas song?

I will probably always adore "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" for Christian.

And "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" for secular.

The next time anyone wants to make the argument that fans are hypocrites when they are mad about players transferring bc "coaches have always been allowed to move schools whenever they want and nobody cares" they need to take a look at the Kiffin situation.

No one likes when coaches do it either!

people forget that the last team that drew demands for a league to change its rules in their favor (2021 Illinois men's basketball) flamed out spectacularly by losing by 13 to Loyola-Chicago in the NCAAT after weeks of discourse about how they were robbed of a Big Ten regular season championship
November 30, 2025 at 3:30 PM
i think the ACC should make a rule that you should get kicked out of the league if you pay a gazillion dollars for a QB who throws four picks against Louisville

There’s too much hatred in the world that’s being channeled into politics and violence. The world would be a better place if all of us just channeled our hatred into sports teams
Not to wax poetic, but rivalry week is on a very short list of my favorite things in sports. The idea that every year you play the same opponent -- the one you hate the most -- and it’s the only time you play them, and it's a holiday weekend, frankly rules and is something only possible in CFB.

it's crazy how quickly the Miami discourse shifted from "but they beat Notre Dame, the games have to matter!" to using analytics/the eye test/recruiting rankings to determine that they are being wronged despite losing too many games on the field.

do the games matter, or not?

Alright here are all my Thanksgiving food hot takes.

-Turkey...I'll eat it, but it's not my favorite. If I want a feast meal I want something special. I prefer chicken, pot roast or steak.
-Mashed potatoes are where it's at, as long as they're made from scratch + not instant

Everyone complaining about how men’s college basketball is going downhill with all new rosters every season, soulless neutral site games for money, whatever else…should get into women’s college basketball! It’s what you loved about “college basketball” before with less of the annoying stuff
