my shoulder has been angry for months from poor posture, chest breathing, painting and never working out/rlly taking care of myself. To get through multiple of my paintings since like cowboy collie i just threw pain patches on and pushed through. feeling dumb now.

as for how long, i personally follow the videos i sent so its around 15 mins, but if i dont feel like that was long enough and i need to focus on it longer (usually i just tell by how my brain feels, if it feels focused, cleared, and energized or not) then i usually do two videos

i do it as early as i can in the morning, i have a dog so i walk and take care of him first but i come back, do yoga (or any workout) and then pranayama after. i try to do it as early in the day as possible because it helps me stay calm and focused better and not stress out the rest of the day.

i started up yoga again myself this week!!! trying to fix my posture and literally like.. everything lol. i genuinely want to tell everyone about both these things i feel like a completely different person and in the best way, ive lived my whole life so miserably 😭😭😭

if anyone wants to give it a shot ive been following this playlist+the pranayama and breathwork subreddits have helped loads. a week in and i feel way better mentally and a bit more confident as well. :')

standard meditation always helped me a lot but a lot of times i had a hard time sitting still and focusing. pranayama is a form of meditation (i believe) and it actually has worked for me a lot better. my focus has gotten astronomically better, when even ADHD meds dont help that half the time.

i feel a lot more in control of myself. it sounds silly to not know how important the breathe was to wellbeing but the way you breathe can really give you focus and energy and keep you calm, its kind of crazy. painting is calming now and not so extremely stressful for me now sometimes.

on a side note, ive picked up pranayama and if you are a severely anxious person and deal with depression (me) i highly recommend it, its been a complete game changer. painting is turning into a meditative experience instead of one where im screaming at myself internally for doing everything wrong.
