-Also: Yes they did.
-Also: The Romans killed christ? Why would they determine what is Christian

Every other week on railnatter. MMT is clearly your motivating belief behind saying that overbuilding doesn't matter and it's bunk.

Please, please, please stop telling people that money isn't real. It's not true that money isn't real.

FWIW I am pretty sure this is exactly what has happened to Elon Musk.

Honestly I have become an anti-chatGPT extremist so fast. Once you are outsourcing social interaction to a computer you are losing part of your humanity. Other people's feelings are not a 'problem' to which technology is the solution. Empathy is a muscle you have to exercise.

Like crossing the road wherever you want? Forget it. Jay walking laws coming to UK if self-driving cars are allowed.

They don't handle it. Robotaxis are a road safety disaster that are constantly circling city streets empty, malfunctioning and causing congestion everywhere. Furthermore, rules of the road will inevitably be changed to accommodate them, making life less free for everyone.

There is a more glaring aesthetic choice in this image.

I am nonetheless skeptical of the number of boroughs where zero privately built homes are planned to be finished in 2027-28. It seems more likely that this is a gap in data availability. Numbers in the recent past have been much higher, for example. trustforlondon.org.uk/data/new-hou...

It is council led. I interpreted private homes (perhaps wrongly) to mean sold on the open market rather than social or affordable housing. I doubt anyone buying the property cares who built it.
September 26, 2025 at 10:45 AM
Meridian Water alone, currently under construction, is 10,000 homes. But the map states zero homes will be completed in Enfield 2027-28? It's not true.
September 26, 2025 at 9:59 AM
Forgive my innocence, but I do not actually beleive that half of London boroughs are building literally zero homes. It is not plausible. What are their planning departments doing all day? Moliorlondon does not provide any source for the data.

You really, really need to make kids to do things that take hours and are not immediately rewarding. This is an important life skill which many parents have failed to teach their kids, and many kids never learning it seems to me to be the reason they prefer online to real life.
September 13, 2025 at 5:16 PM
There's nothing wrong with using the internet for useful things like that! But you cannot expect kids who are exposed to the internet from the age of 4 to 'learn to use it responsibly' all by themselves. Society has to step in somewhere and force them to experience real life somehow.
September 13, 2025 at 5:16 PM
If huge numbers of parents think that giving their kids uncontrolled access to an ipad constitutes adequate mental stimulation then something systemic needs to change and forcing alternative pass times down their throat would be a place to start.

Politely, I don't think it's anything to do with affording. It's about giving them a hobby that isn't consuming social media and encouraging them to practice something that doesn't provide the instant gratification of TikTok.

There is more room for disagreement on Bluesky than in any WhatsApp group Nate Silver is in.

To be fair, Man Utd have changed the manager multiple times and that hasn't worked either.

Benched Anderson and played Porro personally. Just feels like a Porro assist is very likely.

Also, isn't the average amount of time an investor holds a stock something like 5-6 months nowadays? So arent most investors basically uninterested in the intrinsic value/long term viability of what they're buying? Just that they can sell it for more in the relatively near future.
August 15, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Do we actually know that? I'm skeptical.

It feels pretty plausible that the *interest* in AI has outstripped any reasonable projections of the extent to which it will benefit companies financially.

Do some investors think they can ride that wave? Seems possible to me.
August 15, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Psychologically this is intended to appeal to voters who don't like companies that pay low wages, but also don't really like people on low wages (poor, eww) and don't think they deserve more.

So as MAGA bait it makes sense.

This is basically where a lot of conspiracies come from anyway right? Sell the problem then sell the solution, like Alex Jones selling non-flouride toothpaste.

I want a deep dive into who this originated with and whether they are can be identified as a real person because astro-turfing the belief that smoking is actually good for you is exactly what I would do if I was an evil tobacco marketing exec. And anti-vaxers would be the target audience.
