Time to call and email your reps about this federal ban on states being allowed to regulate AI!

Tell Congress to Oppose an AI Regulation Ban
This summer, congress attempted to bury a dangerous provision in what some lawmakers called the "Big Beautiful Bill." The provision would ban most states and localities from regulating AI. Thankfully,...

Since the 2000s there has been increased tension between literal payment processors (PayPal) and NSFW creators. I believe banks and card networks became more anxious around adult material after the Obama era DoJ rolled out Operation Choke Point, an anti-fraud initiative that ended up debanking many
Do you have a sense of what caused the shift? I’m curious if it was literally just the collective shout campaign, if you happen to know more

I see AI slop in anything, I instantly disregard the whole thing. It's like finding a slug in your salad. If you can't write without an LLM, or you can't source art that isn't genAI, you can't be trusted to do anything. Sorry. Absolute deal-breaker.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

when a comediän jaçks-œff in front of women nònconsensűally
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

i am not gonna lie, it's a really weird look to make all these videos where you go to a tech expo like CES and criticize corporations for shoving AI into everything even if it has no user benefit, then make an ad for an AI vibe coding service and defend it from (justifiably) angry programmers

Wow so you're telling me that AI is much less useful to people who have to do actual work that involves critical thinking and accuracy and so on and so forth and the people higher up who are increasingly just doing busy work (if any at all) are the ones enamored with it? Wow how about that wow.
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

It’s an exaggeration to say the key driving force of recent reactionary politics was important people discovering that the public do not in fact like or respect them, then going *absolutely apeshit* when they discovered there are hard limits on their own behaviour. But it isn’t a wild exaggeration.

In reality, any honest understanding of the financial bubble should point people to the conclusion that AI will not be here for very long at all
One of the reasons I've never bought into AI doomerism, is that to believe "it's here to stay, get used to it!" you have to buy into the idea that AI generated elements are so hardcoded or integral as to be permanent, when they really aren't.

You can simply remove it, and it's gone just like that.
