Oh yes!

Communication is an essential part of architectural work and is part of the role. The non-technical skills required for this are often underestimated. Practices to drive decisions in complex socio-technical systems exist and they make it easier for management to say “Yes!”.

Got it, been there. Remembering the pain that pre-configured, non-customizable IDE setups at past projects caused helped a lot 😁. But I totally get your point, as nothing is more annoying than a bug in the IDE setup preventing you from being/feeling productive.

I'm using #IntelliJ + #Webstorm in the same project (mostly Java + Typescript). No serious bugs encountered so far. But what's most important: Productivity and DX are way better than with other client projects where #Eclipse (with a ton of plugins) and #VSCode are the default.
