I am being annoying rn but: it is not over for you after being publicly harassed. Your workplace can have policies (formal and informal) that protect trans employees from harassment. Many trans people continue to have public facing careers after being targeted by right wingers.
The right has an explicit goal of driving all transness from public life. Yes individual trans people can attempt to fly under the radar, but this is desperate survival. At some point we blip onto their screen and it is over. We need to take out their radar and surface to air missiles and funding.
the actual merits of the grade are mostly beside the point, but i do think it’s worth thinking about how to insulate yourself a bit from bad faith actors if you’re a professor or TA. this M.O. (on a smaller scale) is common on the right.

people get so stuck on "you can't change people's minds with facts and logic," but the real theory of mind victory is "i'm often mistaken about the facts and misunderstand the terms other people use."

i really cannot stress enough how much you need to read this book. like a gregg araki teen apocalypse movie, save for the early 80s punk neo-romantic vibes. a masterclass in fun novel writing. best dollar i ever spent.

fell asleep reading thunder perfect mind and dreamt i was explaining it to children. “it’s trying to teach you how to love a god who’s like all that“ i said. the kids were curious but it went over their heads

ya novels should have a little sticker that says if they're good literature for children or bad literature for adults.

i spent so long rolling my eyes at the idea of imposter syndrome. and now here i am, struck down by hubris, waiting for everyone to find out i’m a t slur line cook fuckup who doesn’t know what i’m doing

it’s really lucky that i can say “i felt a little sick so i hid under a blanket and watched brideshead revisited (1981) all day”

i admire the venue in town that is committed to really bad sounding parties. puppygirl rave, vaporwave party, bottomless wine silent reading. ideas that seem inevitable and disastrous, but are rarely attempted in earnest.

i keep having dreams that feature these huge slugs, about 18 inches long and ovoid like a nudibranch, living on the trunks of stately old hardwoods. they’re black and have tentacles sticking straight up, like soft urchins. strongly neurotoxic, but so slow nobody thinks about them much.

eeee so excited to see this one out! now everyone can read about facebook trying to kill me in 2016 and the weird speculation on the weltgeist that it prompted. ty imposter crew!

it's crazy how certain propositions, like "labor-saving devices don't always save labor, even really handy ones like washing machines" or "a more egalitarian economy would likely reduce the supply of tropical goods to the global north", inspire people to be like "i'm gonna kill you"

nerve wracking things:
1. working a public job where you know at least some people want to shoot you for being employed
2. being clocky in a "40% pretty lady, 50% theyfab, 10% weird gay guy" way, and everyone being too polite to tell me what they're seeing
3. having nowhere to vent freely
