He/his Love all animals, especially the unlovable ones. Not a scientist or artist or anything exciting, just a disabled person striving to keep sane in an increasingly off kilter world. And fair warning I tend to post a lot of arachnids and the like

This has all the hallmarks of a bicycler solving their own problem, but would love to hear that this one single business on the entire corridor felt it important to shovel the bike rack (this is largely used by kids going to the Mathnasium). Bonus points for the unshoveled bus stop across the street

What an excellent opinion piece on how UCP dismantling public healthcare has long term impacts on children who don’t receive necessary services. UCP absolutely failing in their fiduciary duty to Albertans, and getting away with it as they fail Albertans 😡 #ableg
Take a read of what is happening to Access for our children in AB:

canadahealthwatch.ca...

"Families are being asked to pay twice. Once through taxes, and again through out-of-pocket fees, premiums, and the brutal math of what they can and cannot afford."

Alberta isn’t fixing healthcare. It’s abandoning it.
“Every system is perfectly designed to get the results it gets.”

"There are no more free public spaces!"

Your library is right there.

"I can't afford to subscribe to every media outlet!"

Your library is right there.

"I have to subscribe to corporate streaming or else I can't watch movies or play video games!"

Your library is right there.
And! Your public library most likely offers access to the major newspapers. You can just login & check out the day's stories (or past ones) for free.

HR departments countrywide need to start treating gendercrit employees as potentially hostile. As soon as you are required to interact with one, you dust off the rulebook, you dot every eye and cross every t, and you assume bad faith at every turn.

They are a threat to every organisation.

Yes, this is a huge problem. Huge. Problem.

And that it seems like every social media company is run by absolute asshats.
One problem is that this requires everyone to submit their personal id data to a company that is probably owned by Peter Thiel.

This seems like a good idea, but there should also be penalties for parents who help their children circumvent the ban, otherwise as the article states...children will be socially left out and when you're a teen that's awful.
Australia’s world-first social media ban begins as millions of children and teens lose access to accounts
Accounts held by users under 16 must be removed on apps that include TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Snapchat, Reddit, Kick, Twitch and Threads under ban

I refuse to repost anything to do with the UCP threatening to rip out #yycbike lanes.

Why?

Because nothing will stop then from doing what they want to do and in the interest of self care I am not playing their stupid game.

Also, I will lay down in front of the machines if it actually happens.

Last night, in debate on a bill the UCP say is meant to protect free, even offensive, speech…

…the UCP tried to censor my speech because they found it…offensive.

But it’s true. Bill 13 will make life worse for African, Caribbean & Black professionals in Alberta.
