I wish there was this kind of movie but with a bit more New Historicist perspective to like challenge the dominant, overly romanticized ideal of Shakespeare's art & remove it from any material politics

2025 has been a really good year for music imo so I think I would be more into it in a different year when I didn't have so much other stuff grabbing me. will check out whatever they do next though at least

yeah based on the chatter & like the album cover/title I was like, oh this is a noise band with really aggro production & then it was like smooth chill crooning lol

the thing I was really unprepared for is the degree to which they are a classic rock band, my first reference points on hearing them were like, Van Morrison/Marshall Tucker Band/the Kinks. I also wonder if some of it is just that vibe falling really out of favor so when it comes back it's New Again

I feel like I like some Batman stuff when it's more like noir-y but I would say I'm more of a Superman fan overall!

I'm curious what it's like reading as someone who hasn't read a comic since a lot of the discourse of it is like "this is written in a way to prove Superman is interesting compared to Batman/the darker comics that were popular in the 90s" so I've only ever read it that way, as like an oppositional

just like classic New Age occultist bullshit, but pretty in line with how a lot of Edgy Smart British Comics like Sandman/Grant Morrison shit/etc were exploring the world at that time period. I still think it was worth reading but pretty unsatisfying compared to other Moore stuff for me

in my memory it was doing some cool things but also gets like heavy into like very stereotypically essentialization of gender/sexuality, like talking about the Divine Masculine being the phallic will & the Divine Feminine being a receptive cup or whatever & that underpins a lot of the imagery

having read Promethea years ago I feel like you probably did a better job & can have the official rights to the name lol
