Long haul day from Dingo to Charters Towers. Saw a hundred or so brolgas sharing a waterhole with a herd of cattle!!!!! Lots more traffic than previous years we’ve driven this road. Hot!!

Today was a short day. Dingo to Capella. Dry. Hotter. We are now in the tropics!!!! Short sleeve and cargo pants for the next few weeks.

Stopped for morning coffee in Emerald. The coffee was excellent, the muffins were fresh and the coffee cups were beautiful!!!

Today was Monto to Dingo In Queensland. Was also a public holiday. As luck would have it we managed to find the only open coffee shop in Biloela, and cheap diesel, on the way.

It’s dry at this time of year in Dingo..cue bad joke - but I’ll let you complete that one yourselves 😉

Today we continued north from Dalby to Monto. Coffee first because coffee shops shut early on Sundays when you’re in the middle of nowhere. We drove in and out of the smoke generated by fires caused by lightning strikes earlier in the week.

Today we left NSW and headed up over the ranges north into southern Queensland. There’s always something interesting even if it’s just noticing that one side of a valley has totally different vegetation compared to the other due to a combination of soils and differing aspect.

Meant to be leaving to head to Queensland and Darwin in the motorhome tomorrow…..and then the toilet flush valve in the house died. No quick fix like the old ones, and we have people staying. Sigh. Hunting for a replacement in the morning then having to fix it before we leave
