Happy 82nd birthday to Robert DeNiro, my catcher Bruce Pearson in the film adaptation of Bang the Drum Slowly. The story is that Pacino was originally cast as Bruce, but Coppola wanted Al for The Godfather & gave up Bobby in order to get him. Bruce saying "Hoo-Ah Arthur!" would've driven me nuts!

And towards the end their expressions as the camera lingers on their faces. Without saying a single word you see Quint finally realize that he’s more than met his match in this powerful, highly intelligent creature. Just incredible acting.

Felt it was especially appropriate to wear this shirt today. Got one nice compliment from the pharmacist and one dirty look from an old guy at the supermarket.

The view from my table last night at The Odeon. Had an all-too-rare afternoon work meeting in Tribeca yesterday so I decided to make like Jay McInerney and finally grab a meal here. This was early and it actually got very busy and buzzy. No Bolivian Marching Powder observed. Yes, I realize I’m 40 years too late for this to be considered even remotely hip.
