My issue is I was coming from London, which is about as dry as it gets in the UK - SW is one of the wettest, but Bristol drier than Cornwall/Devon weather.metoffice.gov.uk/learn-about/...
How much does it rain in the UK?
Find out how much rain we get in the UK and where gets the most rainfall.

Is it a trick and it’s just days of precipitation in December (I lived in Bristol for a while)?

The entire house buying process seems to be about how much you want it/how long you can be arsed to wait to check whether the windows installed 15 years by a previous owner were properly signed off. Maybe if you could automate the solicitors who only ever answer half the questions in a email…

Not saying I agree with jury trials proposals necessarily, but judges aren’t really political appointments in the UK are they? judicialappointments.gov.uk

Maybe I’m being uncharitable, but it does feel like the machinations are the point of being in politics for her.

Does she understand herself?

I once heard one of his speechwriters talk about the build up to ‘Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall’, and it was clear it was a mixture of the speaker having a strong personal view and great speechwriters. Our current leaders don’t seem to have that combo.

I’m an atheist, and even I know the Bible says Mary and Joseph were only in Bethlehem because of a census.

But if I put custard on lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes, would it be a dessert?

So this is a base for a trifle? I suppose mayonnaise and custard are both egg-based.

Can see why supermarkets wanted it, but the effect would have been bigger burden on other large premises - eg warehouses. Overall, this policy, which is meant to benefit high st shops and pubs, will likely just lead to higher costs of goods these business sell!

Even with stiff competition, this is one of the maddest takes - this is something I know a bit about, and it’s pretty clear the people who suffer from fake directors are real directors: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Now all we’ve got to do is get the AI companies pay for massive upgrades to the electricity transmission grid and we’ll be laughing

So you’re saying that the eventual recovery from the dotcom bubble was all about warehousing and logistics?

The reverse of this is really fun, on the other hand - loved spotting bits of London in the second series of Andor.

As someone with a parent from NI I always found it bizarre, but strangely there’s actually been an uptick in interest recently? TV at least - Say Nothing, Blue Lights, think Gillian Anderson’s got a new one. My friends who learnt nothing about it at school are now much more interested.

Do you think AI is a bubble (it feels like it, but I’m a policy guy, not a finance guy), and if so are we close to it bursting?

Had to look Tony Dye up - the line from his obit in March 2008 on the housing market is incredible with hindsight
