My mom used to say that to my sister and me. We were like: “oh gawds, kill me now…”

It's a trifecta of obscenity!

It’s a hard loss & transition…. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your mum.
My husband of 40+ years died in 2023, & my bandwidth narrowed to the bare minimum: me, pets, house. I could not write one word. It’s a natural reaction, and you just have to allow yourself to go through it. ❤️

Exactly. Otherwise what was this all about? Plus, the Dems would get blamed for the shutdown. “See?!? They could have ended the shutdown all along!” I can just hear it…
November 9, 2025 at 10:50 PM
Sen Schiff: PLEASE do not cave on the gov't shutdown. The Democrats in the Senate can't agree to any deal that does not include, at minimum, a one year extension of ACA credits. A pinky promise from John Thune is meaningless. Take heart from the millions at the No Kings protest: stand firm!

Bless you all during this transition... 🪷

He is so friggin’ clueless…

It pains me to agree, but exactly right... I wouldn't come, either. It's all up to the people now.

Oh, that's great he visited your lab. The international connections & visitors are so vital to research. Unfortunately it looks like we'll be seeing these connections dwindle in the states... Thinking about all the postdocs, for example, who will not be coming to US universities from overseas...

I pulled this quote from Prof Clarke's UC Berkeley online CV; thanks. For 21 years I worked in the physical sciences at Berkeley; primarily Astrophysics where many faculty had joint appts w/ Physics Dept. Endlessly fascinating people & work.

Because he understands so well John Clarke's interest in:
"the development, noise limitations & applications of Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices (SQUIDs). Applications incl reading out superconducting 'qubits', novel schemes for ultra-low-frequency NMR & MRI and searching for the axion."

Does he never feel stupid "not knowing" about so much?

My younger neighbor, who we've mentored, calls me "moms". I'm not his bio mother, but I'm a mother in his heart, where it matters...

That’s me! That’s me! ☺️ Glad to put a few coins in the kitty…. I do animal rescue, have nine critters of my own, so I hate to see them go hungry! Outside critters, too!

Also, rhetoric is just words, yes? "The art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques" per Oxford English Dictionary. So, he "watched" more of the rhetoric? That doesn't make sense or mean anything...

And most open enrollment programs take place in October-November. Folks need to know what's happening w/ their healthcare so we can make informed decisions.
