Didn't really want to sit much in front of computer, but I really wanted to share my knowledge about multi window support using flutter.

Wrote article explaining all aspects and also created example app to show it in action -

Multi window support with flutter desktop
One of things that flutter currently misses — multi window support. I’ve developed few desktop apps with flutter and made one open source…

Got multi window support to work on flutter/macos

2nd window is actually a NSPopover which acts as top bar menu dropdown

Multi window support in flutter was always its weak point, but with just little bit of digging into internals - its not that easy to achieve

Some people say test coverage it overrated

Well, we have different opinion. Literally saves from lots of bugs and issues

Coming closer to updatify.io release and now trying to improve landing page. Here's the new design I'm thinking of

What do you generally think UI feel?

Surely I'll change texting and some icons.

Took weekends off from social networks. Don't feel much rested though, but I don't have much thoughts to post.

Feels like "being in stream" helps to generate post ideas

PS: I have using AI to create posts, so you'll never see it on my page

Spent 30 mins debugging why some styles works on dev but not on prod.

Well, turned out its how vile handle CSS compilation.

In my case had to add this postcss section to get it compiled during assets:precompile step

First error from updatify.io in bugsnag. Now I know that it works.

Added a while ago, but haven't seen any errors so far

Continue my work on updatify.io and today added new section where users can configure their project and also get script to install it.

User gets redirected to this page right after creating new "Site"

Made this quick Cars&Bids mobile app prototype, just to find out Doug recently launched his own app.

Well, lesson learned, you gotta be faster showing off something. Had this app gathering dust since August

Fully operational, done with #flutter

Awesome Enumerable method found today.

Returns a hash containing the counts of equal elements

So what's the point of Hotwire Native?

How is it different from phonegap/cordova or any other web view based framework? All of them provided access to hardware APIs + some bridging mechanism to call native APIs(and components)

There are tools like flutter, react native, why making one more?

I regret adding Vue.js to one of my rails apps.

I started it few years ago when turbo wasnt popular and was lacking few features.

Today I would go with Rails + Turbo + Alpinejs.

This stack covers 95% of all possible frontend interaction cases

Never offer fixed price for the job you haven't seen yet

Offering MVP for $5000 is a road to nowhere since you'll end up spending much more time than these $5000 covers

I've done that mistake, so you shouldn't

Sounds silly, but my hobby is my 9-5 job too 🙈

A billion dollar idea - Streaming service which connects all other streaming services together.

Charge by watched hours(say $15 for 100stream-hours) and split income evenly by hours spend with content provided by according provider.

Extra hours can be bought separately

I noticed I started to overcomplicate things. When working on simple feature I think about extensions I can add later and that turns from 1h task into few days job.

I know this is partially "experience problem", since you already have done that many times and know what possibly can be asked extra

When posting your #buildinpublic progress, do you prefer to post images or videos?

I know some content can only be image, but the one than can be filmed - should it be video or image with description?
