In these stormy times it is absolutely relaxing and stimulating to sit down with an outstanding neuropathologist Anders Paetau and place our many mechanistic brain projects on an anatomic map. ”So simple - the structures of your interest are just three synapses away from each other”.

So far, no controlled study reported for glutath or vitamin B3 for MECFS. For NADs, my view is pragmatic. B3 vits are NAD-precursors. Like other B-vits, e.g. B12, levels should be in normal range. NAD+ increases with oral vitamin B3, no need for NAD+ i.v./ s.c.Drs in any country can order the test.

NADs are ”bodily vitamin B3” forms and used by cell repair processes. Therefore lowered values may occur in individuals with different kinds of degenerative diseases. Glutathione is e.g. an antioxidant. The test is a simple blood test that detects a systemic deficiency of either metabolite.

5 yrs ago I needed a tool to find patients with low blood NAD+. @LiliyaEuro succeeded to develop a scalable, accurate test for main redox regulators from any biological material: NAD+, NADH, NADP+, NADPH, GSH, GSSG from a single sample. This became @NADMED_Ltd.

It has taken so long to find anything solid and now pieces of the puzzle seem to start forming a picture.

This paper has *no results* and is pure speculation and handwaving.

Metabolome is the closest of all "omes" to phenotype. It should be a standard readout in research and in therapy trials. It will become a standard diagnostic test in future. But sample extraction & analysis methods vary, and data collection in a standardized way to databanks is an issue. Solutions?

Hello all, I joined to learn and discuss new exciting science with special interest in metabolism. Happy to contribute also to knowledge of mitochondrial diseases and advances in that field.
