The name Bakiribu waridza derives from Kariri words: bakiribú (“comb”) and waridzá (“mouth”), referring to the animal’s comb-like dentition. The name also honors the Indigenous peoples native to the Araripe region, Brazil.

as promised, bonus kitty! i'm unsure exactly which taxon this is, as it appears to be quite a young cat, noted on apple tv's website to reflect the paper below, which is about smilodon fatalis, if that helps

Although I'm dying for some proper terror birds representation as apex predators, and that remains one of my wishes for PhP Ice Age, I'm incredibly happy to see Psilopterus: smaller phorusrhacids are criminally underrepresented.

It's been a while since my last rewatch of #PrehistoricPlanet, so, taking advantage of our new TV, my partner and I decided to restart from season1, waiting for #PrehistoricPlanetIceAge. I can't get over how beautiful this series is. Truly a historical moment in media for paleo representation. Hype.

I won't ever fault anyone for saying "Velociraptor is the size of a turkey" for the sake of clarity/synthesis, but as much as inevitable this comparison has become, it's misleading. Meat farm animals have very different body composition from what you'd expect from a wild animal of the same mass.
