I guess Operation Ajax was technically a joint project with the UK and not unilaterally the United States, but we overthrew the democratically-elected leader of Iran in 1953, largely/primarily because he nationalized Iran's oil industry

I think the term "Banana republic" originated from how the US government and US corporations were fucking over Central America and the Caribbean

The article itself even mentions that not all UPFs are bad (like soy milk).

If you want something to be mad at, there's a better, non-clickbaity target right there in that article: addictive caloric foods with low satiety and few nutrients. In other words, junk food. Not "emulsifiers" lmao.

Refigerators are a preservative. Salt is a preservative. Vinegar is a preservative.

Cooking meat causes chemical alterations that leave the final product bearing almost no resemblance to the original ingredients.

This is a poor description because it's very non-specific.
November 16, 2025 at 7:54 PM
Everything is chemicals. I'm not playing devil's advocate, I'm saying to look at the evidence and not at the fear-mongers: just eat a balanced diet and you'll be fine. Life expectancy is higher today than it has ever been in human history.

There is no such thing as a lettuce atom. Lettuce is a complex cocktail of unfamiliar and hard-to-pronounce chemicals which the plant used while it was alive.

Lettuce contains polyphenols, carotenoids, glycosylated flavonoids.... just because it sounds weird doesn't mean it's bad for you.
November 16, 2025 at 3:47 PM
Even though eggs contain zeaxanthin? Do you recognize that word?

Everything is made of chemicals, many of which have names that are unfamiliar and difficult to pronounce. Chemical complexity is not scary. "Natural" foods are very chemically complex, it's just all obscured behind one word.
November 16, 2025 at 3:36 PM
This is just fear-mongering. Emulsifiers? Seriously? Dijon mustard is an emulsifier.

Red meat is quite unhealthy and probably carcinogenic, but it's a natural part of a traditional kitchen, isn't it?

Let's prioritize evidence over fear
November 16, 2025 at 3:27 PM
Well that's silly. A caesar salad is ultra processed?
November 16, 2025 at 3:16 PM
So what does "ultra-processed" mean? What is a processing step?
November 16, 2025 at 3:14 PM
You're a dumbass and it's pretty obvious why you and Clinton lost in 2016. You just can't stop losing. This is a loser party.
November 15, 2025 at 4:53 PM
He could just do that, he doesn't necessarily need an excuse. There are already unidentifiable people who claim to be ICE agents, kidnapping people and sending them to a foreign prison. I am very confident that an insurrection would be bad for him
November 15, 2025 at 1:29 AM
I don't think it is, I think he prefers it when everyone just takes it
November 14, 2025 at 11:11 PM
Oh wow, it's the guy who said he'd always be friends with Jeff Epstein no matter what

"We've secured a guaranteed vote"

So were your born stupid, or has the gray matter been gradually leaking out of your ears over time?
November 11, 2025 at 2:11 PM
The Republicans experienced a far-right populist takeover, and they have been very handsomely rewarded for it over the last decade. I don't believe you.
November 11, 2025 at 5:56 AM
The capitulators are not fellow democrats
November 11, 2025 at 5:47 AM
If only we could just show one more time that the felon pedo rapist fraudster violent liar is a bad dude. Then people would finally stop voting for Republicans.

Come on man. The Democrats literally got bullied. The GOP took their lunch money. So meek and passive.
November 11, 2025 at 5:46 AM
The Democrats DID have the numbers. The government was shut down because Republicans did not have a supermajority.

The one and only tool that Democrats have in congress thanks to their 47 senate seats, and it was thrown away for nothing. Republicans just bullied them into submission and it worked.

"We see clearly now who Trump is"

Look at my opposition party dawg 😭
November 11, 2025 at 5:36 AM
What if a corporate fuck/fascist collaborator wins the primary
November 11, 2025 at 5:34 AM
What's the message going to be? "Elect the guys who made a big stink about ACA subsidies by shutting down the government for 40 days, only to then admit that it wasn't really important enough to warrant shutting the government down after all?" Yeah, real enticing.
November 10, 2025 at 6:58 PM
They have to give a fuck. They got clobbered on Tuesday. There was right-wing infighting going on because Trump wanted Senate R's to nuke the filibuster but they said no.

GOP didn't want to concede because it would've made them look weak. And it worked. They just bullied Dems into submission.
November 10, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Look I know that "winning" has been a foreign concept to Democrats lately, but the elections on Tuesday were a resounding victory by any interpretation. People wanted ACA subsidies and respected that Democrats were fighting for it. The meek and passive Democrats were instead bullied into submission
November 10, 2025 at 6:46 PM
There are no concessions. The "deal" is that the senate promises to vote on extending ACA subsidies.

- The senate will vote no.
- The house will vote no, or refuse to even table it
- Trump will refuse to sign the bill

In other words, the ACA subsidies which started this shutdown are doomed
