There are three problems with passwords. One, people forget them, people reuse them (causing cross-site security issues), and it adds a point of attack. Removing the password and adding the email link is way more secure and userfriendly. But, not if people have to then also type a code.

I agree with the 6-digit code, but my new site (launching soon) will also have passwordless login. Meaning, it will send you a link to your email that logs you in (but my system does that without people having to type a code).
